We're gaining momentum for an
AFF IST drinks.

A couple of us have made arrangements to meet for drinks.

Any interests for a larger AFF event?

I'm up for this,

Where is everyone staying? I will be in Beyoglu near the Gatala bridge

We will be on a cruise ship but hoping to meet up with Amaroo - a bigger group would be fun. We are limited on times though, as we join the cruise in Venice then come into Istanbul to pick up more people before going to Gallipoli.

We will be on a tour starting 18th April, and will be a few days in Istanbul before heading to Gallipoli. I understand from our initial booking we will be in a Hilton, but not sure which one. I will attempt to find out which one tomorrow from the tour group.

Four Seasons Sultanahmet.

Will be in IST from 18th to 22nd.

I'm still hopeful that the ANZAC fairy with wave her wand and I'll be able to go.

There were comments on the radio this morning that up to 20% of people have not yet confirmed they will take up their ticket and that there may be quite a few passed down the list. Fingers crossed.

Good luck to anyone who missed out in the first round of tickets.
My son and his girlfriend were successful in the first draw. I passed on some information from this thread and he has made a number of bookings with which he is very pleased. He is also participating in the Paris marathon earlier on in April.

Hi everyone,
Both my husband and myself were successful in the ballot. We have both accepted our offers and will be taking our best friends with us.
The four of us have booked a private peregrine tour for 2 weeks, leaving Istanbul on the 13/4.
We are flying up to Finland/Lapland at the end of March in a quest to see the northern lights! then Austria for 10 days with a bit of spring skiing thrown in, prior to heading to Istanbul.
We have managed to book our flights over in J on Singapore airlines to CDG on points, then paying for economy flights within Europe. Paid for economy flights from Istanbul to Dubai, then in J from Dubai to Sydney on Singapore air. Our friends have managed the same on Qantas points, so we are pretty happy.
now to start looking at accommodation options in Austria.

An email today. Trouble is I don't know my ballot number...

Important Information

This email is sent by Ticketek on behalf of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Please do not reply to this email.

1 October 2014

TO WAIT LIST APPLICANTS

We are writing to you as a ballot applicant who is on the wait list for passes to attend the Anzac Day commemorations at Gallipoli in 2015.

The wait list has been activated and to date there have been more than 230 offers of a double attendance pass made to individuals on the wait list. Further offers to individuals on the wait list will continue as original ballot offers are declined or revoked (after the 25 October 2014 deadline for acceptances).

The wait list will be periodically updated to show who has been offered passes, and who has requested to be removed from the wait list. Using your Customer ID number, you can find out where you are ranked on the wait list.

All passes reallocated via the wait list will be issued as double passes to the next eligible person on the wait list in the same category (direct descendant, veteran or general category) as the pass was originally issued. If there is no person on the wait list in the same category, the attendance passes will be allocated to the next person on the wait list.

Where passes in the direct descendant or veteran category are to be reissued via the wait list, before a formal offer of passes is made, the next eligible person on the wait list in the applicable category will be requested to verify their claim by providing documentation to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA). Further details will be advised at the time of request.

If you receive an offer of attendance passes, you will be notified by email (if you provided an email address in your ballot application) and letter sent by Ticketek, which will provide details of the offer, how to accept the offer, and the offer expiry date.

If you receive an offer on or before 10 October 2014, you will have until 11:59PM AEDT on 25 October 2014 to accept the offer (the same timeframe given to all successful ballot applicants).

If you receive an offer on or after 25 October 2014, you will have 14 calendar days (including the date of notification of offer) to accept the offer and complete all mandatory questions of the ballot acceptance form (including providing your passport number and confirmed travel details) for both yourself and your accompanying pass holder.

If you are offered passes (while on the wait list) and you decline that offer, or the offer expires without being accepted, then you will be removed from the wait list and subsequently can no longer participate in the ballot process to attend the Anzac Day commemorations at Gallipoli in 2015.

The wait list will remain operational until 31 March 2015. No further passes will be issued after that date.

If you are on the wait list and need to update your email address or contact details, please contact Ticketek on 1300 364 002.

Further information is available on the Gallipoli 2015 website.

Yours sincerely

The Gallipoli Ballot Team

An email today. Trouble is I don't know my ballot number...

.
It is your customer ID number - it would have been on the e-mail telling you you were unsuccessful. I went and checked ours a few days ago and I was 26,000+ on the waiting list and Mr FM was 31,000+ - as I said to Miss FM this is why we never take lotto tickets :) Fortunately we are totally happy to go to the alternate dawn service the Military History people are organising - hope you are luckier :) I have just booked our flights - only been back a week and I am already getting excited again!

Mmmm. I seem to have deleted the unsuccessful email in disgust. I have my log in details but can no longer log in as its now closed. My ID number isn't on the email advising me of my log in details. I'm not expecting to be offered anything.

My name was on the list for descendants of WWI veterans.

I was in the same position of having deleted the email. This morning I have received another one with the ID number in it - I guess a number of people commented to the Department or Ticketek. Result is that I only need 16500 people to drop out above me and partner has 33000 above him. He actually served in a war as an Officer with the Army and was on one of the special lists. I imagine the only way he would be so far down was that it was random? Anyone know? In any case we have moved on and wouldn't be accepting an offer anyway. The plan is to go to the dawn service at Hyde Park Corner and to the Westminster Abbey Service later in the day. We were at Gallipoli a couple of years ago and thought it very moving. I hope those that get there do have a fulfilling time.

Umm. Ignored those emails. Checked the wait list and I am very close to the top within a few hundred.

If anyone wants to try work out the basis of the list - great grandchild of a Gallipoli veteran, served in the military but not eligible for the veteran draw as I don't have an ASM.

Yes, I just got another email too. 19926 need to drop out. I am a grandchild of WW1 veteran, and daughter of WW2 veteran. Hmmm.

I'm guessing random. I have no direct family connection and I'm 3000 in front of you and partner actually served in a war and is 16000 spots behind me. Maybe it was all too hard.

Will be interesting to see where SWMBO is placed. My number came up in the ballot but SWMBO didn't - Granddaughter of a fall of Singapore POW with close relatives in just about every war the country has fought including WW1.

I think the note against the blue legend at the top has the clue - offers may not appear in sequential order due to the ballot category in which the double pass was originally offered.

I think the published list might be the general ballot list. No real way of knowing the order for special categories. Someone on the general list at 33000 might be first on the veterans list.
