I just wish they'd done it a few weeks ago. Done a return trip to the US and have a trip to NZ next week. I may take them up on the offer and then pay for express delivery, if I do this today am I likely to get the card by the end of the week? Or do I not need to do express and I'll be able to get into the lounge without a card?

As I have to book a flight soon it looks good, especially given plans with family where paying to access a lounge in dubai (due to 5+ hours wait) would cost us around $150 each way, plus one return flight I have to do eco via dubai alone.

Only question is re: children
Is Emirates flexible at all with bringing a 10 year old to the Emirates lounge in Dubai at all? Do they sell tickets?

If you were using Qantas lounge only and your profile was updated with Qantas Club details then you may not physically need to the card. If they ask for it at the lounge just tell them you are waiting for delivery.

The EK business lounge on concourse A has some good facilities for kids (kids room, computer gaming room, popcorn, ice cream etc)

yeah, the trick is SWMBO will also be there, so I'd need to plead and grovel to get 2 guests in with the quantas club card. As another poster mentioned a couple of posts up they count kids 0-17 as one guest. Do emirates have a bonus free pass thing like qantas? Maybe I can grab one online ...

Also need to fly Qantas, but that's OK given I can get QF codeshare even on EK metal. Actually thinking of going via SIN to break up the flight, spend a day there, and get the lounge in SIN as well Though of course same issue with SWMBO + kid, but could be easier in SIN as QF is directly involved

Bit the bullet and paid the $30 express fee. In the email I got after signing up it says I can just let the staff at the Qantas Club front desk know my membership number and they'll see that I'm signed up. I'm guessing you only need the card for 'associated lounges'. Oh well, $30 that I probably didn't need to spend but at least I save the joining fee.

Are they now desperate to keep the number of mugs above 10mil members worldwide.
Would have been better if the 01Jul changes didn't occur, and I would have given QF more of my flight business.
I believe their 01Jul changes were one of the most stupid and inane changes that could have been done.
Now not satisfied with that, and with the 28Aug results coming out, now they are giving out free QP membership without the membership fee.

I was in the SYDd QP one Thu night, late Jul, (school holidays) the place was chockers full.
As it was past sundown, and the lighting towards the bar side is not that bright as the other side, its hard to see that you dont accidentally sit down on someones spot!

Yes. It's becoming more common that I walk in, get my coffee fix and a newspaper and enjoy the (relative) solitude of th seating at the gate!

I'm being a little cynical, perhaps, but I would have thought QF is starting to alienate their most frequent fliers as the lounges get increasingly crowded. Perhaps a lesser problem in the bigger airports that have two tiers of lounges; I've been in regional airports where there was not a single seat spare.

(I work in marketing - IT, not aviation! - but it's interesting looking at QF's strategy in terms of marketing theories. Where a few years ago it was around service, and creating a sense of exclusivity for for premium passengers (even to the point you had to pay to join QFF), recent actions have undermined this. As the QFF program becomes increasingly profitable for QF and member numbers soar, it is, in my opinion, becoming far less effective as a differentiator for the airline business.)

I love how the email offer mentioned 'our new lounges in Singapore and Hong Kong'........of course, no mention of LAX, one of the major ones most people would prefer to use! No point joining up if you can't use that lounge, and the existing domestic lounges are packed.

Hello, what a useful forum!
I'm about to ramp up my work travel, as I'm self employed I fly economy and have never been persuaded to pay 10% more on an international flight just to earn status points.
However, I was thinking of joining the club to take advantage of the excess baggage deal as it is a requirement of my job to check four cases.
Am I right in thinking that the club excess baggage deal is not valid for Jetstar flights?
