I am travelling on BA16 from SYD to SIN in 1st. The aircraft is a 777.

Mrs swilk is with me. We currently have 1E and 1F.

Can anyone comment on the best seats for a couple?

I would avoid 1E/F/K as they are all close to the galley and the noise may be an issue, as well as the proximity of the bulkhead... the further back you are in the cabin the more sense of space. I would opt for row 2 centre.

Mrs FrustratedQP and I took this flight last December. Middle seats definitely the best. We were in row 3 IIRC. Managed to book in about 3 & 1/2 hrs before flight. Hope you or Mrs Swilk like champagne. We were served Laurent Perrier Grand Secal. Very nice indeed.

Thanks all for the good advice. Can you tell me if BA provide PJs on this trip (leaves SYD 1530 arrives SIN 2145). I've only travelled BA in Business before HKG to LHR - none on that flight.

We had 1E,F on a BA 777.Definitely less room than rows 2,3.We weren't disturbed by galley noise though.

Definitely middle seats and row 2 or 3 best imo. As to PJ's they are meant to have them, but I've encountered a lack of sizes on several SYD - SIN legs in the past, so it's not 100% guaranteed you will get them.

We're doing this for our 20th in a few weeks. Have travelled BA F 747 many times - first 777. FWIW - after some research we've selected 2E/F...

Row 1 on the 777 appears to have less room than the other rows-we flew in row 1 LHR-NRT in June.

I would move back... row 2 perhaps. Just gives a bit more sense of space not having the bulkhead so close.

Kinda like 1A on the QF A380 is "close to the bulkhead"?

Thanks, you mean there is actually less pitch in 1A on the 77W?

I can't find any images or trip reports on it.. (NF on the 77W) the closest thing I could find was this:

First | B777-300ER | British Airways | Seat Maps | Reviews | Seatplans.com

We were pleased that the flight was a new 777-300ER. Whilst this is what is scheduled each day for this flight the exception to this is a Thursday, which was the day we travelled and this aircraft had only been swapped onto the schedule earlier in the day. Anyway it secured us New First which still isn’t fitted to all of the 777-200ERs which had been scheduled to operate the flight. We were welcomed onto the plane and the three of us were taken on the short left turn to our seats – 2A, 3A and 4A. There were only four others in the cabin meaning it was only half full. We had avoided row 1 because the middle two seats were occupied. I would remark though that the front of the cabin is better due to the noise coming from the Club galley where the cabin crew seemed to be opening and closing storage units throughout the night

on non-747 aircraft there's a happy medium between 'sense of space' and noise from the rear galley. Generally I avoid the first and last rows, and will take something in the middle for the best of both (space and quiet).

Row 1 is where the fuselarge begins to narrow.Row 2 seats looked wider.may just be an optical illusion as I didn't have a tape measure. Also the F galley is in front of row 1.
Seat guru has Row 1 and 4A,K as beware.
Read somewhere that 2A is preferred by many.

Thanks. 2A and 3A are already taken, I might keep 1A for the "prestige" haha. My QF WP/OWE will drop a level by then so hopefully it sticks!

hmmm, popular flight! Just made a booking for later this week. Selected 2F .... the only other available are 1E/F. I'm thinking it's the best of the rest.
