Hi There,

I did post this in the US Airways forum but thought it more appropriate here

I've read and read the multiple posts and forums and still am a little in disbelief if not excited.

Can someone confirm if this is correct.

AA currently have a promo but 55k miles and get 16.5k free. So all up about $1600AUD for the points.

I've been on the AA website and checked award J flights from Per to Mel and they are available for 35000 miles and about $30.

So all I have to do is buy the points wait for them to hit the account and then book the Qantas J flights with my AA miles online.

Is it truly that simple? I can effectively have two J flights to Mel for $1660. And i assume i can use the J lounges?

As I said in the US Airways forum, I am giddy with excitement by this. But just want to ensure I have understood everything correctly

Thanks in advance

BR

I don't know if you have QFF points, but it could be cheaper to buy Y ticket PER-MEL and upgrade with points since domestic upgrade awards can be confirmed at time of booking (if you make your booking on the phone with a QF agent) This way the agent makes sure that there is U availability and process the upgrade for you. Alternatively, you can book online, but make sure the flights have some U availability.

Thanks - I do have QFF and plenty enough for the trip - however I intend to keep these for personal travel and for the family. These points acquisitions are for business travel and will be purchased through the business.

Just as an aside in case this has happened to anyone else - I went to purchase the miles only to be told my card declined (28 degrees). I double checked my details and tried again, declined again.

I called 28 degrees who told me that in fact the purchases had gone through and there were 2 debits outstanding on my card. I rang AA in sydney and they couldn't see anything so now I have to email them. Complicating this is i have on hold 2 return J flights to Melbourne on hold for 5 days ... argh Welcome to the points game :)
