re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I believe you intended a word which has somewhat a rather contrary connotation! :)

Looks comical when you leave it in there, though :p

Ha! Nothing to love there!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Just saw this email from this morning:

Dear Simon:
To maintain a reasonable relation between the miles we charge for redemptions and the commercial fares available in the market, adjustments are necessary at times.

In this occasion, we are announcing changes to our redemption fares for flights with Avianca and Star Alliance member airlines. With these changes, some destinations will require more miles and others will reduce the amount of miles required. Some routes will not have variations.

To be sure that our members have the opportunity to understand all changes before these take place, all modifications will be effective from October 15[SUP]th[/SUP], 2014.

When I click on the "View Details" on my e-mail and then look at the new chart from the resulting page (available here) it seems that everything has reduced compared to the old chart (available here). Am I blind or just missing something?

EDIT: The "new" chart is one-ways and the "old" is return.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

It's funny under the new chart if you trick it on certain route it costs more...

So for Australian departures it looks like North America flights are the big lovers. To Europe J class is actually reduced back to the original 85K but F class is increased. Looks to me like J class redemptions to North and South Asia are also lower...not too bad!

Anyone has any experience booking OZ flights with LM? Looking at SYD-ICN-SYD flights in early Aug 2014 and saw plenty of availability on EF/KVS (i.e. C9 D9 Z9 U9) but showing no availability on LM... do they normally only release award seats to LM closer to the departure date (like say T-7)?

I booked 2 flights in J ICN - SYD over the Xmas period. I booked them a few days after securing 2 tickets in F on LH so it was within 14 days of departure but it didn't get to the 7 days and under stage.

Sorry, doesnt really help you much but I'd say it was around the ten day period.

Good luck

Well I haven't booked but was just looking at a date in January and there was OZ availability.

Agree with burmans.
I've been looking at LAX-ICN on OZ 388 F for March/April next year and whilst I haven't booked the availability seems to be there.
Would have actually just flew home (LAX-ICN-SYD) on OZ but geez angled flat on an overnighter, no thanks lol. Might just have to go for ICN-SIN-MEL on SQ J at T-14 risky but fortune favours the brave lol

Would agree with this, for a day time flight have travelled OZ and loved it, kind of like a big comfy armchair, good for snoozing and the food/service was brilliant. But overnight would be a different story I think.

KE an OZ going head to head with the 388 on that route .... nice :)

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

My joyful experience today:
I made an award redemption today. When I went to pay for it, it said the transaction could not be processed, however it still debited the miles from my account anyway, I have not received the confirmation email either

The itinerary was on Thai Airways

I do not have any reservation number as it told me it did not process. I have sent an email to them but of course cannot make the booking again as the miles are now gone. And because I have no reference number cannot ring Thai airways about it either!!

Any similar experiences, and results or advice?

There were some problems with this last year - but nothing recently I am aware of. Last year some encountered problems making the booking, a PNR would flash up temporarily, but then not complete the booking. But i don't think the miles were debited.

You can still call Thai Airways and have them look for the booking, even without the booking reference. All you need is name, date and flight number.

Wait till tomorrow to see if it's gone through, AV is known to do this with some of the redepmptions. Just waiti for their reply on email, they pretty good. Thai airways has plenty of award seat, don't worry.

So, burmans, just how secretive do we want to be here?

(I am still getting good availability)

It may just be the connection then, definitely a bummer about F availability though!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Considering the continual discussion here and elsewhere on lifemiles its no wonder half the population are onto it and taking the seats.
