I think a non-daily service makes more sense than flying totally in the wrong direction to get to SIN. You would think that MEL would be a better transit spot for those wanting to travel to SIN from ADL if there had to be one.

I guess we all look at it differently.

Unless there was a pressing need to be there a certain time I love tag flights.

CX HKG-BKK-SIN comes to mind. Almost same price as direct when the discount business airfares were available. HKG-TPE-ICN is another. Booked both legs that way as I had plenty of time to kill but ended up on direct flight both ways due to a delay and accepting offer of earlier flight.

you are in the minority. The vast majority want to fly as direct as possible. Qantas doing tag flights like you suggest would be suicidal, they would go belly up even faster than they are doing now.

So you don't like tag flights idea. Better off having no international services from/to PER and ADL. That will keep them in busines longer.

It would only be suicidal if their tag flights were competing with their own direct services. Remember that ADL and PER don't have any services so introducing a tag flight arrangement might entice the QF loyalists back on board.

If the Asian carriers (MH CX SQ) operate out of ADL why can't QFi? Surely there is money to be made?

1. The Asian carriers fly to their hub and then beyond enabling them to help fill the plane and ensuring they don't lose out by buying others code shares.
2. The Asian carriers operating costs ( labour, home airport charges) are a bunch lower
3. A number if the carriers are government owned and substantially loss making, but the government is willing to support it for side benefits (eg. Tourism)

All true but SQ fly 10x/week, MH fly 7x/week and I believe CX fly 7x/week.

QFi fly 0x/week

NZ's new CEO in SYD recently stated that being an end-of-line carrier is simply an excuse. Air NZ simply needs to work harder and be more creative.

I like his spirit already.
