Points upgrade

Slight change of topic but still think it's not worth a new thread - wife and I will soon be travelling on the red roo, with one of us in J (taking the last U bucket seat) and the other in an economy O ticket. Needless to say, the person in cattle class has requested an upgrade, but it is not available immediately so the booking shows an upgrade is 'requested'.

Flightstats shows business as:

As all U seats are taken, what are the chances of the O being upgraded? Requestor is a Silver member. First time I'm confronted with the 'upgrade requested' signal so not really sure what it means.

Have you booked the flights already or is there another flight you can pick with greater U availability?

I've tried waitlisting for DOM upgrades a few times and they have never come through. Not sure I've ever heard of anyone being successful with that tbh, though I guess it's possible.

Booked unfortunately - was a very specific time I had to fly starting to feel it's unlikely. However, I figure they wouldn't have a 'requested' status if it has a 0% chance.

The upgrade request was instantly awarded for the return flight, so it just looks like the flight there will be a bit cramped! Luckily with one of us in J we can still get a coffee in the lounge...

It's hard to say. It's a system feature to let you request domestic upgrades even if you won't get it. I couldn't give you an answer either way unfortunately.

I have been given an upgrade before on a PER-SYD flight that had no U class...but there were still I class available...request came through 24 hours before flight. Fingers crossed.
