Can someone with experience with CPT & JNB lounges fill in some missing details? We're flying CPT - JNB in J on Comair and connecting to a QR flight in J to DOH.

1. SLOW lounges are apparently for BA/Comair domestic flights but I notice their web site says there is a SLOW lounge in both the Int. & Dom. terminals at JNB.
Who's eligible for access to the Int. SLOW lounge? How does it rate against the QR Shongololo lounge?
2. Do both CPT and JNB have both SLOW and Galleries lounges? Are SLOW lounges only for Comair pax and Galleries only for pax on BA operated flights or am I reading that wrong?
3. QR uses the Bid Vest Hospitality Lounge at CPT - do you reckon we could access that because we are connecting at JNB to a J QR flight?
4. If we can take our pick of which lounge/s to use, what would be the recommended one?
5.

And while I'm at it...............
6. Do SLOW lounges only serve wine or do they have a full(ish) bar (web site only mentions wine)

Since your flying in J ex JNB with a OneWorld operated and marketed flight, you will have access to the BA lounge, in addition to the Shongololo Lounge for QR.

CPT is the end of our lap through Namibia so it might me a mad rush into the airport. I started drafting the trip report today.

Watch access to the Shongololo Lounge as the staff have little knowledge of the access rules at times. I was flying QF J and was denied access. On return to AUS I contacted QF and was told that I should have been given access.

QF is wrong in that case, access to third party lounges is always at the discretion of the lounge, the OP is on QR and as such will have access under contracted terms.

Lounges operated by third parties are identified in the lounge finder tool (above). Access to these lounges is restricted to eligible customers when travelling on specific oneworld airlines as shown in the lounge finder tool.

I am assuming this was before June 1 when the lounge for QF changed across?

I have a copy of the access rules from the Qantas web site so do hope that it wont be necessary to educate them but quite prepared to do so if required.

Hopefully Menzies have worked out by then that they are the contract lounge for QF from June 1.

Hi Markis 10 from the Qantas site...

Next onward flight that day must be on a oneworld operated and marketed flight. One guest allowed and must be travelling on aoneworld operated and marketed flight.
Does this not indicate access as we are both WP and OWE...By the way flying BA to LHR

Thats not the rules for an associated lounge, I pasted them in an earlier post. Qantas have moved to the third party lounge from June 1, that lounge does not subscribe to OneWorld rules and admittance can only be expected if you were flying CX and QR prior to June 1, with QF added post June 1. Flying BA you won't get access.

Confused Markis 10 as eligibility is listed under the heading of associated lounge and I cant find any qualification to one world or WP access...Not trying to be difficult...The reason for wanting access is because of the poor reputation of the Galleries Lounge:)

Qantas have it wrong, the OneWorld site is very clear that access will not be granted if your not flying an airline contracted to use that lounge.

Just a quick update...phoned Qantas FF who called the Shongololo Lounge and indeed OWE do have access based on status and the reference on the one world site where access is only for Cathay and Qatar passengers refers only to non status passengers...So hopefully we may have access ( reports indicate that the Shongololo lounge is much better than the BA Lounge ) and if not we shall just have to "slum it " in BA Galleries First:)

Sorry a bit slow to this thread but I used the Shongololo Lounge travelling QF late last year - just showed my BP with Oneworld status on it. I'd assume travelling QR should be no issue if the OW status in on the BP.

I was originally in the SAA lounge then wandered to the gate for boarding but the boarding was delayed due to storms and the S lounge was right near the departure gate so I wandered in there rather than all the way back to the SAA lounge.

Small, but decent food selection (incl hot food) and self-serve drinks. A few magazines etc.

So reasonable without being anything "special".
