Hope you have some contingency for when they do offer another share!. Only my opinion but reasonably confident they will have another one in next few months.

I'll be buying (sharing) another 200K across all 4 accounts I manage assuming there are no sufficiently large devaluations between now and then.

I've got most of my recent miles via share, mainly with the logic that even if they devalue 20-30% they are still extremely cheap. Have bought but only where there is an immediate booking in mind.

What is the tax recovery fee on top of the $1,750 payable for 100,000 points?

Just caved in the final days, nabbed 140k b/w two accounts. Top it up with a (hopefully) upcoming share promo and I'll be set!

For those of you who took advantage of previous share offers, did you just use family members' accounts? Then use them to book awards for you?

I essentially made a dummy account under my mum's name (who never travels) and use that as the account to share miles from my account. We obviously share the same last name which works well.

I first share 50k from my account to her account which leaves 100k in her account, then share back the 50k which gives me 100k in my account. So at the end of the transaction, my account will have 100k and mum's 50k (after starting from 50k in my account and 0 in mum's). Then I wait for the next share promo where I share back the remaining 50k from mum's to mine, leaving me 200k in my account. So my sharing process is 'completed' after 2 share promos each time.

The process is made even easier as my mum is a supplementary card holder to my personal amex card so mum doesn't even need to do anything in terms of payments.

If I had a family of my own (I'm a single guy in my late 20s), I would probably have accounts for each of my wife and kids and do a more complex sharing as explained by some others here (i.e. from Account A -> B -> C -> D -> A).

Just checked the USDM website, the good news is that the 100% bonus has been extended for 6 days :) - the bad news is that this is going to hurt my Amex! :-|

You will need to log in to the site to see the extension offer - it doesn't seem to advertised on the front page of the site.

"Offer extended!
Buy miles until May 31st 2014 and get up to a 100% bonus – up to 50,000 miles.

• Buy 10,000 to 19,000 miles, get 50% bonus miles
• Buy 20,000 to 29,000 miles, get 75% bonus miles
• Buy 30,000 to 50,000 miles, get 100% bonus miles"

"Offer available for purchases made between May 3, 00:00:01 PT and May 31, 2014, 23:59:59 PT."

Caved in to to purchasing the 50K+50K in my first miles buying experience. Just need an extra 10-20K now for a US or EU redemption in J...the waiting game until the next promo begins

Took the plunge for me a MrGlider, 50+50 each to get started and looking forward to the next share promo.

However, although I received what looked to be a normal confirmation page at the end of each transaction, the points did not post immediately and no email was received. It's been 24 hours now and I rang USDM, they said it could take up to 48 hours but if still no dice I should contact points.com.

Anyone else have any delays? It's our first ever USDM purchase on shiny new accounts so perhaps they're being scruitinised or something... I checked with the bank and they reckon the transactions did process (citi has a habit of being overprotective when it comes to these kinds of purchases I'm finding, so my first assumption was that we'd been 'protected' from the purchases, however this doesn't seem to be the case).

Anyway, I'll sit tight and not stress too much for another day. I have a screen grab of the confirmation page for one of the transactions for backup, but unfortunately not the other one.

Have your accounts been open for the minimum 12 days?

Sounds pretty weird as all my USDM purchases have been immediately posted.

Yes, but only just. During the 12 day minimum the USDM website wouldn't allow the purchase at all, but after the 12 days it allowed the purchase, took the money and gave a confirmation page. Just didn't give me any points yet!

Yeah probably just a points.com issue then. Should post soon (or hear from your CC company). Can't see anything other than that happening.
