We have selected seats 16 J & K - exit row upstairs. I think, but not sure, at the moment this flight is showing a first class downstairs, with seats 3E & F available.

As I'm not very familiar with this but I have read on here at some point that these seats are the best on this configuration, could you please advise me what to do? Are these P seats? and should i swap? What is the chance of the plane being swapped at this late stage?

Thanks very much for any help with this.

If you have First Class seats available, I would take them.

Upstairs exit may be nice, however they are angled-flat. The First Class seats are lie flat.

Thanks for your reply.

How can I be sure that this is first Class. Is there something about the configuration that tells me it is? Or do all 747s with J row 16 have FC.

Could they still change the plane at this late stage?

They can always change the plane! I have had 3 ef many times and they are good. I am sure others will tell you exactly - I am always a bit hazy with configs, but I think if 1 b and 1 j etc don't exist and row 4 does exist then it is the old F config. F in the 747 has single seats in A and K and then 3 pairs in the middle. When they refurbed and turned it into J they created 1 AB etc. In a refurbed 747 the cabin upstairs is better.

Look at row 1, if it has only 1A and 1K, then that is the First Class config. If it has 1A, 1B, 1J, 1K with the J class behind the nose starting at row 23 then it is the Skybed Mark 1.

I was lucky enough to nab one of these last year on QF5 and it was great, apart from a slightly dodgy monitor.

And yes, they can change the aircraft at the last moment if they need to, so no guarantees.
