The Qantas FF website consistently shows business and first seats on Emirates flights to Dubai and beyond as being available for Qantas FF points bookings in the next day or two. After selecting flights and continuing through the reservation and payment options an error message displays saying the data base has a problem and to ring Qantas. On ringing Qantas you are told that there is no availability on the Emirates flights for business or first seats on the selected flights and that there is a problem with Qantas displaying Emirates seats available for Qantas FF members. Has anyone else encountered this problem and is there any point reporting Qantas to the appropriate consumer affairs authority for engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct?

Misleading and deceptive - yes? However the error is coming up not allowing you to purchase so I don't see how you will succeed in that argument.

There are a number of threads lately suggesting the same issue.

I booked a couple of EK J seats MEL-KUL as QF awards a few weeks ago. No issue.

I booked one of these also (MEL-KUL) and it had a problem at first attempt. I rang and the booking was cancelled and he stayed on the phone whilst I went through it again. No issues second time around.

The rep did suggest closing and re opening the browser in case there was some search history confusing the issue.

Advertising something you cannot provide is an area the authorities pay a lot of attention to.

I've tried to get an Emirates booking that includes J on an A380. When I tried to redeem to DXB-SYD, the error message during the pay process was something with "error, select different flights" and calling them revealed no availability. Then I tried at least to get DXB-SIN in an A380 and got a different error, something with "database problem, please call". The agent* reproduced my itinerary and got the same error, waived the phone fee for me and booked them straight away. She suggested its must be a glitch with the multi-city feature.

*to be precise, I did some hotline-roulette so it was actually the third agent - first was totally incompetent (please tell me first with Qantas flights the itinerary involves - only the domestic leg - ok, which flight number, ...), second as well (if I look that up we cannot waive the phone fee).
