Yes smart gate is why I have so many EP Cards also - and APEC does trick on way out - haven't used EP Card myself for years.

Smartgate always fails for me when it comes to taking my photo. Plus it helps skipping long customs queues in the morning.

I know not directly related to the original post - but I had this problem too, until I figured out that taking my glasses off when having the photo taken made it work! (This is despite the passport photograph itself being taken with me wearing the exact same set of glasses).

The only problem is that I can't actually read the screen that shows you the result...

I would expect every airline does for WP.

EK Gold get them as well so I have a pile of them building up - due to BNE only recovering them 20% of the time and I also now have an APEC card.

However EK ones are airport specific, so my pile is departure and arrival from BNE and have given most of the ones I have away to others I meet in travel, aka the person sitting next to me on the flight.

When the normal line to get through Quarantine is 150+ and the express lane has 3 people in it then the express cards come in handy.

In theory you are not supposed to use the express lane with golf clubs but I just tick the soil option and use the express lane to save some time. From there they tell you which lane to use. Sometimes they look at my sneakers, most times they wave me through.
