Hi,
has anyone had any experience with AC "on my way option" - its essentiallly a ticket option which entitles you to prompt AC assistance in event of travel disruption.

When travelling in Canada in winter, I always allow at least 4 hours for a connection to an international flight, or if I'm flying in for meetings. A severe weather/snow storm either west or east creates chaos and delays across Canada the likes of which are unknown in Australia.

When I can't, I have booked the 'on my way' option, but I'd just advise you to look at the T&Cs closely. If I recall correctly, 100K Elites get the priority over On-my-wayers. When the poo hits the fan weather-wise, there can be still many people above you in the re-booking queue. That said, you'll still be ahead of many and its very well priced for a bit of insurance ($20 to $40 IIRC), and its not just priority assistance - they'll book you on any other Nth American airline if needs be and pick up accommodation (again check T&C!)

I've never had to use it though.

Yep it's targeted at the "great unwashed non status pax, so it's priority will sit behind premium and high status pax but above fellow unwashed.

Seems like a good idea for the price. Sort of like insurance.

However proof in pudding as you have to find the "on My Way desk not just any AC service desk, or gate assistance.

How does it sit against the J pax??

Good question, I think they look after themselves (but many would have high status such as 100K (below)), though if you are connecting from/to international flights on AC J, you get to use their 'concierge' service, even without status. AC concierge is probably not unique, but is a winner.

If you are a '100K Super Elite' (how's that for DYKWIA :) ) then the concierge (1 to 3 real people at 8 Canadian and about 10 more international airports) actively monitor your flights and if there is going to be a missed connection, they re-book you before you know it. If you are running late some-how and call, they will call and make hotel reservations; they will search out and hold airport lost property for you etc etc. You can visit their office at the airport and catch up on airline gossip, if you so choose!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
