3K launches straight to the gate web checkin at HKG

JETSTAR Asia has launched in Hong Kong a web check-in service allowing customers without check-in bags or visa requirements to skip the queues and head straight to gate.

More than 45,000 Hong Kong customers are expected to be able to use the Straight-to-Gate service this year.

Jetstar Asia CEO, Barathan Pasupathi, expects the service is to enhance customers’ travel experience and streamline the company’s operations at Hong Kong International Airport.

I use the airport check in so doesn't make much of a difference...
But would be helpful at SIN...
Wonder if it includes emergency exit row check ins though...

Already available at SIN for A320 routes to Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, Taiwan & Philippines [notable exceptions: Japan, Australia, Beijing]

The 3K check-in counters at HKG Terminal 2 adhere strictly with opening at 2 hours before departure. The long passenger queues at check-in also often means that you end up getting your boarding pass at 1 hour before departure, even only with carry-on. Web check-in would now provide enough time to head into the Plaza Premium Lounge (access with Priority Pass) before future quick hops from HKG to SIN.

Or the QF Lounge. According to FT, it will start opening at 1030 once the AA HKG-DFW service starts.

Hopefully it works better than the SIN version. For a SIN-HKG flight, it still requires the pax to go to the counter if they are using a HKG passport so that they can check for a non-existing visa.
