I dont understand where you have got these numbers.

At 560 SC im assuming your doing something like sydney - melbourne - london return? (80 on domestic and 480 on international)

The new table seems to suggest

Dubai - London return will net 200 on cheaper business.
melbourne - dubai return will net 360 on cheaper business.
sydney - melbourne return remains the same at 80.

So if routing above is correct you actually get 80 more SC than previous.
No, unless taking a stop in Dubai, that flight would credit as LHR-SYD. You get less points.
Looking at the tables, it appears that around 60% of flights now net less points/SC. about 30% the same and the rest more.

I suspect that while I shall remain "LOYAL" to QF. My frequency will take a dive .
So like others here I see no upside for QF with my reduced flying.
I don't like Y and so will really have to be desperate to use it.
When I have been in J ( regardless of the fare type) its rarely full.
So making it harder for me to fly in a 1/2 empty cabin seems counter productive to me.
But then I'm not an over paid airline executive.

Or if you change planes in DXB ( is that what you mean by a stop?) which case I think you do get more sc's (I think)I

That's a thought....
They are talking regions and zones now, not sectors/flights. Under this new system is a trip like SYD-xNRT-ORD going to count as East Coast Australia-Japan + whatever zone Japan-North America ends up being, or just East Coast Australia-West Coast US?

Even two of our most esteemed and experienced members are still not able to confirm whether mASA bookings between 29/3 and 30/6 will attract SC/Pts. I imagine the premium phone line could be running hot today.

A simple clear statement from RedRoo that expands the previous "Yes" to put our minds at rest might also save a lot of grief for the call centre staff.

Of course bookings in those dates will earn. Just via the new scheme.

I got this last night and was gobsmacked. Qantas really dont want to keep its loyal customers. AJ is blinded by the math of it all.
I buy on my own account 2 international Business class fares (for 2) each year but always on a discounted rate. the only thing that has kept me loyal to Qantas has been the status. Now I will just hunt for the best fare.

Given QFF gift vouchers tag at the date of the gift vouchers original purchase Ive got a bit of respite on the lower SC earning routes BNE-TSV is a noticeable one for me.
(anyone else with vouchers, you may have some short term gains with these)

I can certainly understand the removal of MASA's no need to be grumpy on that but if they are concerned about people getting a free ride up the status tree, then look at your DSC offers....

The facts are that they got caught out removing MASAs by stealth with the website changes (busted!!!!!) and the stink that everyone kicked up took you by total surprise and you paid for it (all those extra hours on the phone with your staff would have added up to LOTS!)
Having read through the tables as a QF flyer not much changes, some wins, some losses. What does change is the partner earns, what a mess! - I think you made the wrong call on these, I wonder how your partners feel - super happy I bet!

What is most offensive is the goobly gook that Qantas has put out. If they were serious about customer service and their commitment to frequent flyers and honest - they would have had the earning points calculator ready and in place. Obviously they do not want to make the disadvantages too obvious. It is being treated like an idiot by a PR spin merchant which is most offensive. If QF are going to make changes which disadvantage frequent flyers - be honest - we have become too used to spin to accept this goobly gook.

The biggest kick to me is that QF has taken the already previously 'enhanced' BA flights and 'marginalised' them more. Not content with earning crazily small points on UK domestic flights (and short EU hops), they've now added a rediculous 5sc tier in discount economy.

I have to admit , I am happy to be in the VA camp at the moment . I don't know how you all are getting your head around these changes , its quite extensive . I was always going to consider the move back to QF at some point when personal circumstances allowed , but will now have second thoughts and spend some time looking and the pros/cons when the time comes.

The changes are quite extensive. Most people out there will not care.

If you do the flying and earn status with your travel the only issue is going to be a possible reduction in points earned which some people will see as a significant change and may change their flying habits.

If on the other hand you were gaming the system to earn to SCs and points then Qantas would appear not to care about you at all. These people will now need to find a new way to game the system. There are still cheap ways of doing it.

Hey...the new calculator is fantastic!

Lol. I got the email yesterday and ignored it so little is my interest in the QFF program these days. This is an airline that is burning too many bridges to hope for customer loyalty especially from Melbourne travellers.

There has been plenty of changes in the frequent flyer world recently. Many are moving to a revenue based system. Just be happy that the cheap Y tickets still earn anything at all, unlike CX.

Not sure why people are bringing up woolworth so much. Most, if not all, frequent flyer program has shopping partners. People in america don't even need to step on a plane to get top tier status.

Just tried out the new points calculator fr MEL-LHR in Business as it is now categorised and got this

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I heard my Manager complaining about the changes when he came in this morning, he is by no means an AFFer, status chaser, etc. just a normal person with a QFF account.
However he does a couple of QF domestic Economy flights a month through work bookings, which doesn't earn enough to keep gold but he supplements the remaining SC's by a yearly O/S trip, and a few domestic leisure flights.

He is now saying "why would I fly QF now for my personal travel/holidays? only reason I fly with them is because I can access a lounge and get priority check-in, I am not willing to spend extra $, fly unnecessary flights to maintain it. I'll just choose whichever airline is cheaper from now on" were his exact words.

If normal non-AFFer type people (not that we are not normal ;) don't like/understand these changes then what chance do QF have of these changes being successful/profitable????
