If you on a 3 class AA aircraft (762/777) sold as three class then you should indeed have access to one of the two A/C's at MIA before flying to LAX.

There is also a oneworld lounge, but you are unlikely to get access.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm scared of the lounge "dragons"!

Don't be - they are generally quite pleasant ... you have two choices basically, one near gate 15 and another near gate 30.

Note that MIA is a huge airport - the D concourse itself is about 1½km in length.

The upstairs AC at gate 15 is small, the one at gate 36 is much bigger with a nice long bar for sitting and people watching

Let me re-phrase that - I don't want to embarrass myself by expecting access, when I'm not entitled to it.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Given the information that Serfty provided (i.e. the length of the terminal), hopefully the departing gate will be closest to 36 then.

There's a very handy Skytrain to transport you to the AC of your choice in Concourse D ;)

Serfty how does the One World Lounge compare to AC?

Will be in and out of MIA mid Sept would hate to think I missed the best lounge - MP Diamond and flying J on AA.

One of the bigger difference from the A/C s the drinks are 'self pour' and one would avoid the need to consider palming a few $1 greenbacks ...

From using it in Sept last year, I found the lounge near Gate 36 to be pleasant and comfortable with really nice staff at both the desk and behind the bar. Much better then MAI airport as a whole which I just hated (but that is definately a rant for another thread!)

I got in on my Plat AMEX as I didn't have the status needed at that stage. If you have one, you can try using it.

As a few others have said - allow plenty of time to get around as it is a big and busy terminal. Even with the monorail service it can take forever to get from one side to the other. My incoming flight landed at Gate 2 and my outgoing flight was gate 42 so you also lose a lot of time just navigating the terminal.

Be there mid next month depart on AA flight, guess as a Q SG can get in to lounge?.

The lounge dragons were actually really *american accent* AWESOME! when in MIA last November.

Booked on the cheapest fare from MIA-JFK and no problem for them to put me and partner onto earlier flight, and allocated exit row seating. Even wished us a good trip on leaving the lounge and remembered our surname. Best AA service EVER experienced.

We accessed the one world lounge at miami the other day after arriving from costa rica and flying onto new york...the lounge is in terminal E and only a 5-7 minute walk to Termnal D and the gates 30+...the lounge hasnt changed in all the years we have been using it, with free drinks (self service ) a selection of sandwiches, salad and cakes...its ok and nothing like the pier/wing/ba first lounge terminal 5 or qantas first lounge...but has ample room and free wifi that actually works very well....its a pleasant environment and we enjoyed our 60 minutes there

Thanks for that input pyffii - will definitely give it a try in Sept - however I just do love a bartender serving you - just adds that extra layer I believe.

i loved the bartender they had serving in SK Lounge in SIN T2 but alas was never included in T3 SK Lounge and disappeared from T2 when revamped.
