I am booked for a trip to Launceston on the 7th August.

To LST: QF2285 (DEP: 15:20, ARR: 16:25)
From LST: DJ1375 (DEP: 17:45, ARR: 18:45)

I was wondering if only a 1 hour and 20 minute turnover is long enough to account for delays?

And also once you get off a plane in LST do you go into the terminal or do you go straight out of airport (Do I have to go through security?)

I think you will be OK with an hour and twenty minutes, while I cannot help you with the screening I cannot imagine it will be too busy and much of a delay.

That is a very short trip :) May I ask why? I thought maybe a SC run but you are flying Virgin on the way back....

If the Qantaslink flight is on time you will be fine - assuming you have no checked luggage of course (DJ launceston check in dragons adhere to cut off times to the second).

When you arrive at LST you will pass through biosecurity (friendly sniffer dogs!) then walk into the terminal which is separate from the departure lounges. Therefore you will have to clear security screening again to catch your DJ flight.

Assuming no checked baggage this won't take any longer than 10 minutes -tops, dependent on how many other flights are leaving at the same time, can sometimes be a bit busy.... But then even if you are queued and and running late the airline reps always come to security to rush their pax thru to board.

Unless you are WP/CL though you won't get to use the QF regional lounge between your flights - which is a nice little one recently refurbed... Serves king island cheese, wine and crackers :)

what pauly7 said... All arrivals at LST are channeled through a quarantine screening station (often staffed) and up into the arrivals hall. As you exit, you will be landside, to access the (downstairs) gate area you will need to pass through security. At certain times the security queue wait at LST rivals MEL on a Friday afternoon.

The only reason I am going is because I am yet to fly on a Q400 or an E190. So I just thought I would get these planes under my belt.

Does anyone know what the average delay is on QF2285 is it usually on time or is it one of these flights that is always delayed?

@Oliver Gigacz please do report back (with pics if possible) on your comparison between the DJ e-jet and the QF turbo-prop. IMO the e-jet is a little beaut'; spacious and seems to carry most of the V-liscious menu too; sparking wine, scotch, sandwiches... so much choice, when compared with the Q400's "quick snack plus cup of still wine". (or even QF mainline for that matter)

I agree, and it is this place which makes the Qantas Group offer out of LST quite nice, for the frequent flier.

LST REGIONAL LOUNGE

the entry area/door, with a few chairs/lounges either side and a TV.

the main lounge area, with view out over the top of the departure gates to the tarmac

self serve non-alco bevvie zone, with small fridge and hot drink facilities. the large booze fridge is padlocked until the middle of the day.
