The TR with our Cape to cape cruise was getting a little long so I decided the Africa portion of our trip should be a separate TR.So here goes.
We arrived into Capetown early on the 29th March.Immigration was completed by 1100.So we caught the first shuttle to the V&A waterfront. When we were here 4 years ago the 3 days were overcast and very windy so the Cable car up to the summit of Table mountain was closed. Our first thoughts were we would do it this time and probably have lunch at the restaurant at the top. However the cable car has a website we checked and there was going to be a fair wait.So we bit the bullet and decided on a helicopter trip.We thought we might as well go the whole hog so went on the 45 minute flight to the Cape.
You walk from the V&A out to the heliport.Passed the SA government supply ship for Tristan and Gough islands-

Quite a few choices at the heliport including a Huey-

We picked a company that had reasonable reviews but also because they could take us in 20 minutes. Two of their choppers arrive.Ours was the far one-

Fortunately it had been refuelled. The day was near perfect.blue skies and virtually no wind.So off we go-

It's been over 10 years since I was in Cape Town but remember liking it a lot. We stayed in the V&A waterfront area and found it very convenient.

I am a little concerned with the report title....who was the one who rode in the sedan chair????:)

All will be revealed in good time.I hope by the weekend or a little earlier.

There is a drought at present in the Western Cape plus last summer there was an extensive fire in the National Park hence the appearance of the land. The sea though provided a stark contrast-

Terrific weather and great photos

Great photos. It's been 23 years since I left there, but I can still name all the places in your pics!

And sedan chair? Please say you wore a pith helmet while riding in that.

Heading back around Table mountain and over Capetown.

Really enjoyed the experience. The weather was perfect.yes it is expensive-4400 Zar per person but to us totally worth it.Then it was back to the V&A and our favourite restaurant because they serve some of our favourite dishes. We both started with the bone marrow appetiser then shared a Kg of beautifully cooked mussels.Mrsdrron had a glass of SB and I washed it down with a Belgian beer-

The view isn't bad-

Then it was some retail therapy for mrsdrron. She hadn't been in a real shop for nearly a month.Unfortunately her new favourite Ted Baker didn't have what she wanted.Fortunately neither did Browns the jewellers.:D
After an afternoon coffee with macarons it was back on the shuttle to the ship.
