Just putting the finishing touches on a 280K OW RTW award and have a conundrum with a flight from YYC - DFW.
AA has 2 direct flights each day which have Y & J classes and there is ready availability for a single J seat but there is no availability at all for 2 J seats - obviously AA only releases one award seat at a time.
Firstly will I be able to book myself into J and Mrs V. into Y ( ;) ) on the same flight or is there some rule that says both of us have to fly in the same class? If booking into different classes is possible then I would hope that AA releases another J seat later on. Has anyone had experience with doing this on this route who can give me an idea of how likely it is that another J seat will become available.

(There was an alternative option of flying from YYC - PHX but these flights are operated by US and have Y & F, which would mean QF would book us into Y so we'd prefer to take the J option to DFW)

If you are on different booking classes, eg. Y and J for even just one sector, you will need to have it ticketed as 2 different PNRs.

If they release another J seat later, then you can get the PNR with the Y sector changed to J (subject to change fee).
