As a diamond member I do get emails sometimes from the Concierge welcoming me and asking me if they can help etc, and at times I do ask them for assistance. For the first time I received an email from HOTP where I'm a regular stayer enjoying usually suite upgrades and exec lounge access, know some of the staff well and thought oh they have a new HH person as in Syd like the wonderful Kelly, well the email said "we note your reservation was only guaranteed until 4pm 31 jan 14, please provide your credit card details or it will be cancelled. Now I usually arrive about 1630 and have always been aware that they only guarantee rooms until then, but I've never personally been contacted and told my reservation will be cancelled at 4pm, anyone else getting this Email?

To answer your question: No.

The logic behind this is really what interests me though. At a guess I would assume that your bookings are normally guaranteed by CC and that someone noticed that this one was different.

This is a normal part of booking with some Hilton's on a fully refundable rate, eg Conrad SIN. I just put my CC in the booking anyway, though I doubt they will really cancel the booking.

Depends on best rate, most are secured to 4pm and I usually get in by 4 - 5pm depending on traffic, if there is an excellent rate I will lock it in but this is the first time I've been personally emailed and told it will be cancelled at 4pm. There is a full range of rooms still avail including the easy cancellation one ATM.

Agreed, normally using a charge card for such purposes.

This facit of bookings is clearly detailed online before confirming - I have no problem with it.

We were 1 hour late in early January (Sydney) - they were not overbooked, but had cancelled the booking entirely, we are Diamond also, not that that should make a difference I guess.

Receptionist quite hoyty about it, did it as a "favour" to reinstigate the booking and gave no indication of club use or where breakfast etc. Pity because that first contact is really so important as you walk in the door to reception. I must note similar cool/slow reception first time I stayed there, so avoided later trips there, but last year stayed and excellant reception, all variable I suppose.

Spend a lot more time at other Hiltons, and never a miss as far as polite entry.

Nope, but I frequently arrive after 4pm so put my credit card on every reservation :)

I never got an email from concierge in my many stays at Hiltons in Australia.
Only when booking resorts overseas I receive emails with information about transfers, dining options etc.
