point 9 for my wish list;

being able to find and book classic award long haul flights in premium cabins: most of hte flights that I find when looking for J or F redemptions are J dom and Y int. IMHO this is not a J or F flight: that only occurs when the longer sectors are in J or F. A 1 or 2 hr Jdom is a waste of points and a con on the pary of QF to bring this up in a search for J to a long haul destination

Could not agree more. The booking engine is a complete joke when it can't return credible results.

I agree it can be frustrating - there are clearly two issues here. One is the lack of availability of premium cabin long haul where and when you want it - the other is the search engine returning mixed flights. The site could be clearer about the sections in Y (it is not too bad in that respect now). But it is presenting options. If I was flying Per-syd-PVG for example I'd value the 4 hours night time domestic sector in J as much as the 10 hour international daytime sector. That is a personal choice - but I need the option to make the choice (then I might book the segments separately).

But only recently I discovered if you have access to premium desk and you book by phone the operator may upgrade the y section automatically (particularly if I is available) and may offer to wait list the Y component for an upgrade subject to availability. In this case the points or $50? booking fee is well worth the money. I don't know what is official, unoffical and at what status levels it comes - but QF phone service is without doubt one of the best run aspects of the place.

Don't worry, they'll enhance that soon too no doubt, or make it simpler and fairer, both terms which appear to be now interchangeable.
