'Your London Booking'

It actually seems a logical way to reduce your losses.

A bum on a seat is a paying bum.

It's also added weight in terms of passenger, luggage, catering etc... so there's a bit more fuel added, which costs more, and if they're already earning you less than breakeven, then surely it's even worse now? :p

I don't know how QF can be competitive when their prices are so much higher than the competition! I just bought J class tickets to London on MH for a little over $5900 but, for the same dates, QF are asking for something like $8200!! Premium Y fares on QF were around the $5000 mark. Er...I don't think so! MH it is and I get more SCs than if I had booked on QF!

Without giving away secrets, when are your flights? I am trying to J my way to maintaining my SG, or reach WP, in the absence of any 2SC offers.

That's where the notion of "marginal cost" comes in. :)

You'll always get a few people who decide to wait till last minute, but it could mean they might have to pay double, or not even be able to buy a ticket at all. We're really talking about in the last week or days before the flight is due to depart, and there are ample capacity to offer this.

Yesterday I was looking at dates around 8SEP out, 1 OCT back from both MEL and ADL. Plenty of MH Z availability for just under the $5900 mark around those dates.

Regards,

BD

My flights are in October but that fare is available for travel up until Nov 30, I believe. Say hello to 560SCs!
