For Qantas & Partner Classic Awards and Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards the points needed for the Award Flight need to be in your Frequent Flyer account at the time of booking. To reach the amount you can:

Use Top-up points to buy up to 15% of the total number of points needed for an Award flight (minimum 500 and maximum 20,000 points). Terms and conditions apply.

Purchase SPG Points and transfer to Velocity?

Yep, 4,000 would cost USD$140. Alternatively, buying 30,000 Hhonors points for USD$240 would convert to 4,500.

Although best to check there is actual award availability when you are looking to book before pulling the trigger on paying any cash.

There seems to be some "Friday Comedians" amongst us... Thanks for there giggle some of you.
The Hilton suggestion is a good one, i do have some points there... Cheers
