Advice please on a tricky interconnect situation.

I am flying MEL>SIN on SQ and SIN>LHR (T5) on BA arr. 5 am, arranged that way so as to link with a group booking on BA LHR (T5)>ATH only a short while later, dep. 8.15 (check-in 6.15). 3 separate tickets and the two BA tickets are on 2 different passports, AU & UK/EU, with 2 different versions of my name.

In SIN I have 6+ hours between flights and was hoping to spend most of that in one of the Transit Hotels, with only hand baggage. (Unfortunately, I have no status or lounge access.) And yes, I do need to check baggage as I'm away for 3 weeks in two very different climates and smartness requirements.

What are my likely options for through-checking of baggage?

Slightly off topic I only mention it since you have no lounge access as something you might want to consider if you don't want to stay at a transit hotel.

Ask in the meetings forum for someone to guest you in, failing that have you considered priority pass?
Airport Lounge Access Worldwide | Priority Pass
They have at least one lounge at each of the Changi terminals.
Some credit cards like the Citibank Select include priority pass membership.

Sorry I can't help with the baggage question.

Thanks for the Priority Pass suggestion, but I do this long-haul trip only once a year, and usually travel straight through. On this occasion, the transit hotel suits me well: bath/bed/back-up alarm call/cup of tea is all I'm after.

Just confirming that SQ at MEL were happy to check my baggage right through to LHR. It may have helped that I got up extra early to print my BA boarding pass before I left home, so I had that as well as my BA e-ticket to show.
