Hi All,

Still a novice on this forum and therefore would like to seek expert (and wealth of) knowledge available here.

Been looking at flights to USA (SYD-DFW). Just playing around on the QF website, no Y+ or J available for booking (even I wanted to fork out the $$) although ExpertFlyer shows some seats available.

If I were looking at getting myself a SemiFlex ticket with the odd chance of being successful for upgrade, would this mean my chances are slim since paying pax aren't even able to purchase one?

Thank you

Are you looking at the actual fare buckets on expertflyer or just the seat map?

Did your search on qantas.com only include Y seats? That's the default option.

First Question: When do you wish to fly?

Second Question: What do you want to achieve? An award fare, an upgradeable fare or just pay for Y+ or J.

Hmmm .. I was only looking at the seat map

Answer1: Looking at 2 March SYD-DFW
Answer2: Want to see what are my chances of a points upgrade to either Y+ or J

Thank you all

Points upgrades are a lottery, not much change on that route.

If your in PER or ADL or FNQ think of going CX instead via HKG.

Maybe its catch up because a lot of those F & J travellers did not want to go to the east coast while the snow was clogging airports.

Unfortunately seat maps are not an accurate measure of how many seats are left for sale. Often people neglect to select a seat until check-in.

True .. Thanks TomVexille ... May not be worth after all trying to pay a SemiFlex ticket for no chance of upgrade ...

I think an ExpertFlyer Pro account will get you the information you're after. And they do offer a 5 day free trial. Just remember, upgrades usually come out of the award buckets. Although I'm not sure about QF, can someone confirm or deny?

Seems odd. QF 93, 107, 7 and 11 are all full in F and J on 2 March.

And PE as well, last time I saw something like that was when QF corporate blocked QF1 for the inaugural, something is up.
