Hey all, got an unfortunate situation (well, at least in the sense of an avoidable facepalm moment)

Have been lucky enough to confirm & ticket (just last night on the call centre) for myself and wife 2 x F on EK SYD to BLQ classic rewards next week, and then with one other person needing to come on our trip, I caved on a solid revenue Cash+Miles offer ticket (@ 3c/mile effective redemption, aka a tough 403k miles for F), emptied out the rest of the Skywards account to get them their fare.

And then I realised, as a pleb Blue member, I should have ticketed them on the Redemption flight and myself on the paid commercial, as that would mean the difference between Gold and what it is now. To make things worse, they dont have and no interest in having a Skywards account, so both the status upgrade and miles will be lost without a trace

Of course I called up to see waht can be done to split + reissue on of the redemptions into their name, and then would subsequently re-issue the revenue fare in my name so I can ascend to EK Gold, but of course, there is no award availability at present, so they said we can "Cancel and pray" the inventory will be re-allocated, but that seems like way too much risk, any insights as to whether there is a way on the phone or maybe at check-in that they can switch it across?
