World's most beautiful airports

I don't regard SIN as one of the most beautiful...after numerous trips, the last in December 2012, the airport looks somewhat tired. I don't know if it's the colours or the carpets.

I can't stand SIN - I do transit there at night mostly but it is green and dark....

Bits of SIN are nice, but the carpet in others is atrocious...
I quite like MAD and HKG.

DFW - the Skytrain is a thing of beauty for aircraft watching

For boutique airports
USM - Koh Samui and its "open" design.
REP - Siem Reap has a nice arrivals

SIN Terminal 3......not T1 that QF use.

Some modern airports in Asia-Pacific and few more to come over the next several years. SYD doesn't come into the frame.

T1 right? QF (and of course EK and CX pax) get the worst deal. T3 is better, but I wouldn't call it part of the world's most "beautiful" airports.

If just considering visual appeal - airports like Jakarta with it's homage to perhaps more traditional architecture and lawns/gardens in between gates is probably a contender in my books. That doesn't mean its impressive, functional or a great place to spend a few hours.

When considering places like Changi, HKG and Beijing, I think the author is getting "impressive" mixed up with "beautiful".

I think you're right. For many years SIN set the standard but I might rate HKG and DFW higher for different reasons... but they're "big and airy", which I like

Agree with the story re Madrid Barajas. Beautiful architecture (at least inside). All pleasant thoughts evaporate after the standard 30 minute wait for luggage though (and the screens at the carosel TELLS you that its going to be 30 minutes!).

I also like Marrakech (but ditto re the immigration queues).

Changi T3 is just nice and pleasant to be in for a passenger, without being "wow". Happy with that.

Good to see Montevideo Carasco Airport mentioned. Was there in Jan this year and might impressed by the architectural design. Very open, spacious, modern but still charming. It's smallish so on a very different scale to mega ports like HKG, MAD etc.

After check-in, the shopping mall that doubles as the terminal pier, on the unexpected outside walk down to the gate lounges.

Every gate lounge is set up as a VIP lounge if flying Bangkok Air, if not - then every gate lounge also has its own dedicated VIP lounge, which is directly connected to it.

Some of the food on offer in the lounge used by TG.

DEN? No way, ugly and too big.

Favourites are Oslo, HKG, CBR (now it is open) and Venice Marco Polo.

Love Koh Samui airport. The big fish tank, the open feel. IIRC we had refreshing gelato there before boarding too.

I think you mean PG not TG. Food looks great as well as the other photos, Cheers, PJ

Good to see we all have different opinions.

Most favourites are in no particular order SIN, BKK, HKG, ATH, SKG, CNX, KUL.
