Woolworths Insurance

So we've known Woolworths have had Pet Insurance for a while. There's a thread about Pet Insurance here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....rewards/pet-insurance-25-gift-card-41213.html
I had wondered how long it would take for them to get into the general insurance market, but it looks like they have now - Woolworths - Insurance
The site currently lists
Car Insurance
Travel Insurance
Pet Insurance
Life Insurance

I am going to wait until a bonus offer before investigating any of these, but now we have a thread to discuss them in. I've only found one existing reference to car insurance:

Mum - Woolorths car insurance offer of extra 4c off fuel

but this doesn't cut it for me. There's no way to know whether those extra 4c vouchers would give you an additional 2 points per litre.

One thing I've noticed is the Travel Insurance lists an Annual Multi Trip policy, but links to the normal quote page which does not give a reasonable annual policy - only $2000 plus worldwide options!

Yes I put in my travel schedule which is a bit on the heavy side and the annual cost was over $1,400 compared with my Chubb policy thru work that runs at about $350 per year for the best cover.
i was surprised just how expensive it was for my circumstances.

Same company behind Real Insurance/ Pay as you Drive.
Without checking T&Cs the Woolworths Travel policies appear cheaper than Real.

First big negative - as a scuba diver - restriction that your license must be issues in Australia or you are diving under licensed instruction...I got an AOW in Thailand,questionable if covered when diving with a DM on a Fun Dive -- not under instruction.

Potentially a useful Special Events clause for LCCs if you can book prepaid travel/tour arrangement that qualifies (query if prepaid travel includes a hotel)

I'm a little cynical of Hollard Insurance backed insurance - its a small player and its claim service is relatively untested (in saying that though it is up and coming in the market with its niche white label products).

Coles Insurance however is backed by Wesfarmers Insurance, which is a bigger player with decent experience. I don't know if Coles Insurance has travel insurance though.

You probably need to look at the underlying reinsurance channels to get the true picture, I am sure WOW have done their due diligence on companies they deal with as partners, while I am not sure what due diligence Coles might do on their parent - Westfarmers.

They do have an annual travel insurance policy.. you need to get a quote and select 12 months, which gives you a ~$2000 premium. Then, down the bottom right hand corner of the page is a link "Annual Multi Trip Policy".

That quotes me at $401.88 for a couple on a world wide policy, and $301.41 for a single. That's not too bad. If we see a discount voucher in the future, it will put them in the price range of TID.com.au - although I do need to compare the PDS properly One red flag is maximum 30 day journey.
