Not sure whether or not to risk buying more egiftcards for one last hurrah in case the system gets updated before I can use them.
Surely the risk in relation to buying before the system gets updated is NOT trying to buy early enough?.

Seems I'll be heading out tonight to see if I can buy my last tranch of Visa cards if the local WW branches will play ball - one more time.

Fyi: staff discount still works and provide 5% for all transactions. If you have any family member working at WW group, it could help.

It has always worked. But beawre they can easily track how much you have spent etc... So do more and someone from management can easily talk to you about your actions.

didn't work for me today at:
Sydney York St (manned checkout)
Sydney Metcentre (manned checkout)
Eastgardens (manned checkout)

Neither of those locations let me try self serve -- they saw me try it and immediately directed me to a manned check out... so it may be that it works at self serve..

Really? As per a previous comment of mine I tried to buy Event Cinemas and eBay (together, and then separately) with EGCs and wasn't able to do it in either case. Did you do self-checkout?
it was manned check out.... it allowed me to put in egift card numbers although i didnt proceed

No problems purchasing 5 Kathmandu vouchers tonight with the 15% discount. Probably shouldn't say which store

Used self service and message came up for operator to validate which she did and then walked away before I made the payment. The requirement for an operator has been around for a while though

As a frequent credit card swapper, and someone with access to the wow staff card I can confirm that they monitor this closely. The person who's card I was using got a "please explain" on the amount of different credit cards used on the staff card.

If one is going to use another's staff card the least the user can do is create a supplementary card on their own account in the name of the staff member...

Imagine a staff working $20 an hr 30hrs a week. 31.2k a year, buying 100k of gift cards yea sure!

I imagine the ATO ceasing to accept Only1Visas as a valid method of payment had a very signaificant impact on the number of Only1Visas purchased.

I can only imagine that Woolworths enhancing its system to prevent cards that have a purchase fee (like Only1Visas ($5.95) and Perfect Gift cards ($6.95)) from being purchased with discounted Woolworths gift cards (where the discount almost offset the purchase fee) is going to make another very serious dent in the number of Only1Visas purchased.

I have been a heavy user of Only1Visas in the past. They will no longer be viable after this change.

There will still be the once or twice a year promo of a free third party gift card or bonus reward points that will make Only1s and perfectgiftcards viable even without using an egiftcard. A small amount is enough for me and can last me the whole year.

One can hope that as sales fall, the GC makers push for more promos.I do prefer the current system where they are only viable for points-collectors
