Woolworths gift card thread

I was referring to your taking them into DJ's to combine to a larger one.
They actually do that?
Yes they do especially now that gift cards aren't supposed to have an expiry date. Otherwise you could purchase $50 gift card only and use 5 codes, not sure if click n collect is available for that though

Nice. I didn't know that
Don't know how taking in 100 is going to go though.

I did try and order a $50 one online using gift cards but they've designed the site so you cant use gc with gc. They're smart

I was able to enter 1 card, i didn't go through with it due to the delivery fee. Where does it stop you? after you've entered 5 and a credit card?

I didn' click and collect and allowed me to use 5 cards for non gift card products

Any suggestions on making the redemption process more efficient would be gratefully accepted.

I can scan and copy the bar code, and copy my email address (at least into the first box to insert email addresses), but that's it. I've just redeemed my first 10 and found the process both tedious and time consuming.

Not looking forward to redeeming the other cards I have...

Thanks

I dont think it's time consuming at all. Less than a minute for each claim, only 30 seconds if you scan the bar code/numbers. How do you think it can get quicker...

From 11/4/2018:

1000 bonus points when you purchase:

$50 Ultimate gift card for him

$50 L'Occitane gift card

2000 bonus points when you purchase:

$100 Accor Hotel gift card

$100 Ticketmaster gift card.

Appears to be no limit on these.

First sort the only1 visas by type as the first 25 are the same and only the last 4-5 digitsare different. Copy those 25 digits on a notepad and you will only need to change 5 digits.

Tip for everyone using self serves, to SKIP staff involvement

For me, maybe 1 in every 5 machines works

once the screen for asking to swipe your rewards card, if you let it sit there for about 10 seconds, it assumes you dont want to, and it goes straight to the checkout screen without staff swipe needed

I find its random, if I go back the next day to the same machine, it hasnt worked,
but you can go back to it straight away and it works
Using your tips throughout this promo, I have found it only works on the machines that accepts both cash and card and not the CARD ONLY machines.
I've also identified the type of scanner you should look out for and will take a picture next time.

Anyhow I stopped by a few for one last hurrah bringing my total to 156. Not as high as dr Ralph and I'm sure many others who haven't posted yet but I'm satisfied. Not to mention the sweet edge pts, over 45k :D

thats interesting, ive found that the majority is CARD ONLY machines

also sometimes you go back the next day and the same machine doesnt work, and vice versa

i had already stopped buying, but found a store with heaps left,
so my total is 181, my previous record was 55,
now to try and convert the DJ cards into larger ones

I'm amazed that you and others can afford to tie up $10-20k in gift cards either as the V1s or as WISH GCs through inception (I'm still not sure I follow this inception concept).

They aren't tied up.

Good strategy, but it's more than just the last 4-5 digits that are different in the cards I have.

Inception is just using the only1 Visa cards to buy more wish gift cards and using those to buy only1s again.

I personally have a month spend on Visa/eftpos around 6-8k anyway. And now that the explorer isn't earning 2pts per dollar with postbillpay/auspost, I will be needing around 4k more per month. I should probably buy more only1 cards but the woolies in a 15km radius are already sold out.

They aren't tied up.

I may be a bit slow on the uptake here, Dr R. (FWIW I had to watch "Inception" twice before I got it.)

Are you:

1. Buying the Wish card with your points earning credit card (I think you are Amex free, but one could earn 3 pts per $1 spent for, say, an Edge). Example: buying a $105.95 Wish card for $100.65.
2. Buying the $100 Only1visa with the $105.95 Wish card.
3. Buying a $105.26 Wish card online with the $100 Only1visa.

Rinse and repeat. Is that right?

So after the inital purchase you only ever buy one Wish card (having progressively higher face values) online with a $100 Only1visa each time - you can't buy higher denominations (eg A $500 Wish card), to make the process at the checkout quicker?

Thanks

That's basically the inception idea.

It's definitely time consuming. But free money is free money in my book.

OK, so you use a 5% discounted WISH card to buy a V1. Net cost $100.65. You also score a $10 DJ card. Fair enough.

Next step, use the V1 to buy a WISH GC with a value of $100. If you now buy another V1 at $105.95, your net bonus of the $10 DJ card is reduced by $6.60. Is $3.40 of DJ gift card per $100 of V1 worth it? Or am I still missing the trick?

Edit: I posted this yesterday, but for some reason it didn't go through.
