Woolworths gift card thread

Came to my local WOW today to purchase 9 x $100 VISA1 card to pay my bill . To make things easier i go straight to CS counter , guys look at me with 9 x gift card with a strange eyes and ask his manager to come , She asked me what do i want to pay it with i said with eGift card she said that you aware of $5.95 fee each card i said yes . They couldn't process more than 4 at a time so 4 + 4 + 1 without any problem at all .

Why would you try to buy 9 at a time?

All that does is attract attention to you and the fact that you can use a gift card purchased at a discount to buy a credit card.

Four is the limit the system can handle. This has been extremely well documented.

Buying large quantities is only going to ruin it fir all.

If this type of activity keeps happening it wont be long before this entire option is shut down.

Sorry to be a pain but could you pm me the same info.
I've been trawling this thread to discover it with not much luck.

Cheers.

I think I have the gyst of it now.

Does anyone know if you can purchase the Accor gift cards with woolworths gift cards?

I'm pretty keen to get at least one of the $200 vouchers.
Cheers.

Will take note of this and use self checkout next time with 4 cards to draw less attention .

I bought a VA gift card from Woolworths that didn't activate today. No second small activation receipt, nothing. Got them to do a test purchase at the counter with another card and they got the same result, so it looks like they're not activating at all -- not sure if it is it system wide, or store-specific. I had to go back for a refund after calling up to check and being told the card was never loaded. Beware!

Might be useful to some business owners but you can now pay your Australia Post account with partial payment and CC. 0.5% fee

I have been trying to work out which is a better option (Someone please correct my calculations if they are wrong)

My bill is $12k

Amex Plat Edge 1 Point / Dollar. So if I paid $12k, that would be 12,000 points + $60 Fees for 12,000 points (5c pp)

Amex Plat Edge 3 Points / Dollar @ woolworths. I need to buy $12,774 worth of eGiftcard which cost $12,135.30 = 36,405 points = 0.3c pp (135.3/36405)

Did I do my calculations right?

Isn't this only 0.5ppd?

Hmm. Does Australia Post fall into government body?

  • Earn 3 Membership Rewards points[SUP]6[/SUP] per dollar spent at major supermarkets
  • Earn 2 Membership Rewards points[SUP]6[/SUP] per dollar spent at major petrol stations
  • Earn 1 Membership Rewards point[SUP]6[/SUP] per dollar spent on all other purchases excluding utilities, insurance (except those issued by American Express), telecommunication providers and government bodies in Australia where you earn 0.5 Membership Rewards points[SUP]6[/SUP] per dollar spent

Sadly, yes.

Ok. But is my calculation for paying by Visa1 Cards correct?

$12k is 120 cards @ $105.95 each = $12,714

Purchase 30x WISH e-GC from CR at 5% off with a value of $423.80 (4x Visa1) at a total cost of $12,078.30.

Points earned using Plat Edge = 36,234 (if you order all 120 cards in one go).

Fyi:

I got auspost eParcel business account. I am using amex explorer, earning $1 = 2MR ascent.

go to postbillpay.com.au , put in biller code, and your account number. Check out using paypal link to amex explorer.

My monthly spending approx $12k It is nightmare to use visa1 to pay.

Australia Post post bill pay seem to removed all CC or Paypal fee last couple of month used to be 1.25% then down to 0.5% then 0 , i just paid my July bill this morning with biller code 8733 and use paypal as option to go with Amex Explorer linked to earn 2 points / $ with zero fee . You might have a different biller code

I don't have any postbillpay codes and reference number on my invoices. The only way I can do it is register an account with auspost.com.au/mybusinessaccount

Prior to that, my only option was bank deposit.

Purchased 5 cards today to pay a bill.

Obviously in separate transactions.

Everything same as per usual. No issues..... Thank God.

I do all mine at self serve subtly

Mine is 8733 code as well. Auspost business credit account.
Check out using paypal has no fees so far. BUT There is a chance, next month invoice auspost can add those 0.5% fees on it.
