Woolworths gift card thread

I just try and only do a few at a time at manned places in case it holds up the queue.
The odd manager makes it sound like you're breaking the law by buying them using gift cards but all their polices and rules are inconsistent.
I just try and do the self serves and be as discreet as possible
I also usually use self serve so I'm not holding up the checkout queues and draw attention to myself. There's never usually been much supply so have never bought >20 in one go. Have noticed the restocking is more generous now no doubt as demand has been increasing.
Went for gold today and cleaned out as many as I could (I did split it up and do 2 trips at the second Woolies I went to) so I wouldn't need to do so many trips to convert my eGCs to Visa1's.
I think I just got unlucky at Big W, there's always someone who is over zealous at demonstrating their vigilance to management at how good they're doing their job (am I being too facetious here?).
Until they change the systems, it will be fine. Hopefully not for a long time.

I I do 4 at a time.
Choose the most remote self serve terminal and do it subtly as possible
If I get looked at a lot I usually just finish up and leave.
If there is no one there or virtually no one. I will keep on buying and go nd put them in the car so I don't have a handful of bags I also buy it with some groceries as well.

That's the best I can do:)

I just bought a significant supply with my latest CR eGCs. Went to 2 Woolies no issue. Went to Big W and the self serve terminal was telling me nothing was there (as they're so light) so needed attendant to swipe each time to override.
Just after I paid for my first batch, another attendant came over and asked how I was paying for them and said with eGC, she took the balance away from me and went to counter to call her manager. Wouldn't let me do anymore as 'cant pay for a GC with another one'. I didn't argue as didn't want to attract unwanted attention and left the store. I hope they don't shut this down as the systems are allowing Visa1's but I think there are some already that aren't allowed. Was going to buy some more eGCs from CR tonight. Might not as to avoid getting stuck with them as I don't do my shopping at Woolies.

Some BigW (macquarie park especially) have a "store policy" of not allowing giftcards to be purchased with giftcards. This started from last years 10% off BigW giftcards because they were using 10% bigw giftcards to buy more 10% off giftcards (eventually making a profit). Not all BigW stores have adopted this policy but certain larger more popular BigW stores have.

Good to know. I hadn't encountered this with this Big W (Eastgardens NSW) before. Used to buy most of my 'perfect GC' eftpos cards from there until AusPost re-engineered their Self serve terminals to cash only earlier in the year.

Got to Keep remembering THREE cards required for $1K Gift card purchase........got to add the $5.95 fee(59.50)!

I've done a 'Dr_Ralph' and ordered a single eGC for $423.80 from CR before the 5.7% offer ends. That will cover a few non-Amex accepters.

You are a.smart man.
I've been buying 500$ ones so I've ended up with multiple 76.20.

Next time I'm going to do the same as ypu

It's convenient, but since I shop at Woolies anyway, using up any balance is not difficult for me.

Dr Ralph
How do you manage your gazillion gift cards.
I ve purchased my biggest lump of 160. And I've used half of them but I'm so paranoid I'm going to throw a full one out by accident. I online balance check them twice before I dispose of them.

One mistake and all the effort goes to waste

I have the same worry. Once I confirm on-line that there is a zero balance, I take a permanent marker and draw a line across them.

Old technology but works for me.

I keep all Dr Ralph cards until the end of the week in which I expect the transaction(s) on them to have been processed. I then check the balance online and if all is good I dispose of the card.

Normally cards come within a few hours, but a 24 hour delay is not unprecedented. I will say every time I think I have a problem with ordering these WISH cards it comes good after 48 hours at most. It is a little frustrating, but be patient and I think everything will be fine for you.

I wouldn't worry yet. Although mine came within a few hours and I have just spent it on 4x Only1 GCs.
