Woolworths EDRs and Qantas Frequent Flyer issues

Hi,

I must admit that I often peruse the QFF sections but as I am frustrated at lack of business / first rewards and have given up on trying to use Qantas for flights. So I have not been in the situation of asking for advice though I have appreciated all the interesting discussions here.

I have been in the USA for the last 18 months so that is a part explanation also but have now returned to the fold – thank goodness not on airline that welcomes me to someone else’s country!

Not that I don’t travel locally on points now ( I just travel on Virgin in economy ) but I do so on Star Alliance carrier rewards internationally.

I had accumulated a significant number of Woollies EDR points converted to QFF ones and they are sitting round gathering dust thru lack of international J class opportunities. Up to now , I sympathised with QF’s problem , lack of pilots , aircraft, funding, out of touch woke CEO etc but those excuses are now running thin – MEL – LAX on many future dates spreading into mid next year is MEL-SYD-FIJI-LAX if at all -I am sure many of you could give similar examples.

But this is not my whinge – I do ask does EDR understand the frustration and angst of many of its members who were told and believed ( once) of the marvellous reward and upgrade opportunities on QF ( and related carriers ) that came with their points !

Come to think of it , maybe I should complain directly to Woolies or at least make them aware of the above issues – I am sure that I am not the only unhappy Vegemite - is anyone aware of an email address for the head of EDR or someone the Woolies executive who oversights this area?

Getting back to my point, other reward programs offer several options of converting their points to multiple frequent flier / stayer alternatives – eg hotel groups offer this eg Hilton has 26 airline “transfer partners” Hilton Honors Transfer Partners & How To Use Them [2023] So this has not been done before.

I have earned lots of United Mileage Plus Miles from my time in the USA ( flights, hotels and credit cards). They have been topped up in Australia by hotel stays , car rentals and now at least one local credit card offers Star Alliance points. I use it preferentially. I have enough experience to say Star rewards availability is so much better than QFF and taxes and charges unbelievably lower! ( Not perfect but better )

You will be right in saying that I could change over to Coles etc and use flybuys to get Virgin Velocity points – not much availability for domestic J but access to Qatar reward flights would be a real benefit ! Unfortunately , Woolies is the most convenient shopping destination for my family so it will unlikely change.

Thank you for putting up with my complaints – what do you think ?

My question / suggestion is - should/will Woolies EDR consider letting us convert their reward points to the Star Alliance or just to Singapore Air or United and get us out of our current misery with Qantas.
