I think they are getting this discount via this alliance somehow, whether this is really within the rules is anyones guess.

Yeah from what I read on Ozbargain, Affinity Alliance were the providers of the gift cards, people were quite rightly questioning how they are accessing such a discount, when much larger companies can only secure 5%.

I'll be staying away but keenly watching how it plays out.

yes looks like anyone can buy for $55 so they have possibly bought it bought the woolies cards and then onsold for a profit. !!

Well I have always suspected the companies/organisations that sell giftcards get something out of it themselves but that's rather more than I thought!

I joined a group 2 mtgs ago and finally got the card after much pulling of teeth. I then ordered 1500 worth of card s over 1 nth ago and then money left my account
to date I still have not go the woolworths cards.
so either the Affinity Alliance is a scam or they are just lazy! I had joined as I ache a large organisation who wanted to use these cards and I was the patsy to see if it worked
well it doesn't seem to
they also don't have the dining situation under control either so its all a bit of a nothing.
So don't fret about not buying these!! I certainly would join just to get them as I don't think they will eventuate Im just about to query the credit card .

FWIW, I've ordered from Affinity Alliance and received discounted cards, though it was not an experience devoid of eyebrow-raising moments. There's an ongoing forum thread on ozbargain which originally explained why the earlier IAIM membership was pulled (basically they got ozbargained), and has evolved into more of an 'ordering from Affinity Alliance' thread. There are others besides me who report successfully completed orders to date... if anyone is thinking of getting in definitely have a read of the thread and caveat emptor.
