Hi all,

Total wine buying novice here, I'm in the market for 2 bottles of 2008 Penfolds grange (the birth year of our twins) as a non wine drinker I've got no idea the best place/way to purchase to earn QFF and get a good deal.

I'll be a WP1 in a week or so I'll score an epicure membership (no idea if that's any value/help)

Thanks in advance!

You could join Kalimna club to get that price down about $150 or buy overseas to get it at a further price cut.

Why ?

Grange is hopelessly overrated unless you are a true connoisseur… and even then one might question the perception…

Have you somewhere to store it under optimum conditions ?
What are you planning to do with it.. drink it some time .. when ?
Will you know the difference when you drink it ?

An ex-girlfriend was able to enjoy a bottle of grange on her 21st birthday. I believe that is the standard involved for this type of thing.

My parents have room in their wine bank, personally I couldn't taste the difference between Grange and a cask of cooking sherry.

As alluded to above, it's a 21st thing, and if the so desire they can drink it, hang onto it, or flog it off for whatever they so wish.

I think it was BWS I saw during the cricket today offering 30% off purchases of 6 or more bottles of wine. But two Granges and 4 bottles of the cheapest plonk they have to make up the six.

Alternatively, wait a few years and just buy it on the secondary market for an even bigger saving!
