Or is it as childish as the SQ suites vs EK suites debate??? Or Krug vs Dom ?? ;-)
Agree wholeheartedly - have tried both Krug / Dom - love 'em both - EK Suites / SQ Suites - tried 'em both - nobody will be fighting me for EK space in future!

The main problem I see is that even more people will just play their noise without headphones creating more noise pollution and frustrations for other people.

I had considered that, but thought that people would not be so insensitive. ;0

They don't offer a way for small businesses to take payments on their devices through the NFC chip.

Yet.

This was my first reaction to hearing about the jack issue, all of those 3rd party add-ons which use the headphone port to stay outside the apple ecosystem.

Ps. Anyone have a Jawbone fitness tracker? Mine connects via the headphone jack.

I find the apple earbuds very uncomfortable. The design doesn't sit well with me and seems to scratch my ears, so I don't use them. Am hoping to find a pair of plug type earphones that can work on the IP7 instead..

Cabled headphones? Didn't every computer have a cabled mouse a short while back?

In my experience, if you walk around most large corporate offices, you will not see many wireless mice at all. Quality cabled mice actually do a better job as well.

Back on topic, the removal of the headphone jack is just another way to herd the iSheep further into the Apple camp. Sales of lightning cabled headphones etc will increase significantly (as not everyone has $400+ for the QC35), none of which can be used directly on non Apple equipment and therefore further locking them into the ecosystem.

I agree. I find the apple buds very uncomfortable. I personally listen to music off my iPhone 3-6 hours a day while working, I have (fairly expensive) shure in ear wrap arounds (and love them). And think this is a stupid move. I am an amateur audiophile and I know it's not a large market to listen to, but Apple are isolating them.

Bluetooth headphones from $29 to $9,600 - https://www.google.com.au/search?so....0i131j0l4.0.0.0.6826...........0.0fKeEwOGmRM

Following info direct from an senior Apple employee at Chadstone (VIC) store is that number of reasons for deletion headphone jack - main 2:
1. Majority of iPhone customers never use headphone jack because a) They are not music buffs and b) Music buffs have decent wireless headphones anyway
2. In order to maximise waterproofability deletion of headphone jack takes away a major water penetration point.

Disclaimer: I have had maybe 6 iPhones for 10yrs and never used a headphone jack 1 time - don't listen to music and don't watch movies on phone.

I won't miss it at all.

I never listen to music from my iPhone via headphones. The only time it's used for music is when I'm in the car, and then it's connected via the Lightning port. At the gym I don't want a heavy phone in my pocket..a small iPod works perfectly.

The only thing that I have that uses the jack is an SLR camera timer. It can connect via the adapter, or I'll just use one of the old phones I kept specifically for the purpose.

I reckon a black 7+ will be an ideal replacement for my 6S and iPod mini 1st gen.

I would be too afraid of scratching the jet black.

I only have 2 pairs of headphones that I travel with so I only need to get one adapter separately. The only problem is not being able to charge whilst listening to it.

Yes this is mentioned alot on the forums .......but I am sure there is a way around this. Because when docked to say ... speakers it's effectively charging while playing!

Good motivation to bite the bullet and get bluetooth headphones. Headphone cables have been bothering me for years, and they're always the point of failure on my headphones so will be glad to be shot of them.

Totally agree .... Major bug bear is the sync with video ..... Completely off. I do hope this is fixed along with click delay on iPhone screen.

Good motivation to get an Android device.

Nooooooooooo cannot travel with Galaxy note 7 on aeroplanes they explode apparently ! 4 Airlines have so far banned it from being used onboard including charging.

Probably about time I replied... and the answer is, I can't honestly remember when the last time was that I stuck something in it!

I do have a temperature sensor gadget I bought on Kickstarter many years ago that I'll not be able to use anymore, but I haven't used it in the last year as it is! I think that says something. I have a bluetooth speaker that alternates between my mac and iPhone 6s, and Beats wireless headphones that I've been using with my iPhone since Christmas.

I understand a very very small group of users will have problems with high quality headphones that cost a lot of money to replace, but switching to a digital connection instead of the analog one currently in use would seem to fit the description of high quality headphones. That said, I'd rather the lightning connector was replaced with a USB-C port for all, as that's a tiny but fast port.

Hate the fact it's so small not sure which way is up. 50% of the time I get it wrong and then still have issues as I was right the first time but off Center. Ad nauseaum

I have a "Rain" app for sleeping (white noise). Showers, Thunderstorms, Rain on roof etc, so I do use it. There is also an option for "Airliner", but it doest come with turbulence....which i sort of don't mind .. :D

Bluetooth headphones on the iPhone 7 will lead to quality loss. All data is compressed on Bluetooth and (mostly) lossy compression. The new audiophile compression is aptx, which offers a type lossless compression, is not available on iPhone 7 at the moment. Not a problem if your using ear buds on plane, but for high end headphones will be inferior.

Belated welcome to AFF teammongo thanks for the explanation about bluetooth.

The lightning port or USB-C? The lightning port is reversible (you can stick it in either way).
