Will the crisis affect your travel.

ditto, but then we do work for the same company ;).

Two versions of the email I got (I recieved three in total from different management streams) said this was a temporary measure and applied to everyone worldwide... although I guess the CEO still gets to fly in the corporate jet.
;) Yes and Yes.. But I'm sure he'll have to now use the 'small' company jet instead of the big one!
I only have the one source so far and there is no mention of the word 'temporary'. Although I do remember this happening quite a number of years ago - around 1991... And it was temporary..

You guys are lucky to fly business with your company, what industry do you work in?
IT
I think you need to re-phrase that by saying they were lucky...not any more (for the time being), based on their email.
Yes.. Were lucky is right Lindsay.. And hoping to be lucky again soon!:D

Funny, same from our company.... only whY travel for people who were in the past allowed J. Also non essential trips cancelled however being an automotive manufacturer i think its very explainable given the tough times...

I wonder how permanent this is? Is it pure speculation to guess what rate the AU will settle at in the near future (1-3 years)?
Who knows? I think it is all speculation and any number of factors could make the A$ go up and down. Some factors we are aware of and exist today, some factors are made up by the experts as they go along and there are many unknown factors that may come into play in the future....

All our business travel is in Y already, so no change there (unless we start flying exclusively on LCC's :().

I have been quoting some projects in China, so the depreciation of the A$ against most currencies is making us more competitive against our European competition - so hopefully some positives there.

Our company has not changed anything at this time. Possibly something to do with the 40 Billion (US) cash reserves and no debt.

Unfortunately no :(. My employers need me working on projects in China/HK/Singapore (for definite) and Vietnam (possibly) for the next 12 months minimum. The projects can't be rescheduled due to allocations of resources, and the people are spread over Australia, Europe & China.

The good news is that anything over 6 hours is still J class. Which is pretty much everywhere from BNE!;)

It is interesting to see how things are panning out. Most people a month ago seemed to have some confidence.i wonder if that is now the case.Heard from a friend today who is very senior at a company in the top 50 of the fortune 500 global list that today their travel from the CEO down is to be in whY.It seems that the crisis is beginning to bite.
Certainly i notice that my flights when working are now virtually all JQ or DJ and this is on Government contracts.Paradoxically the outlook for my travel appears a bit brighter. No shortage of positions to maintain cash flow and air travel and awards possibly being available for less.May yet plan a second DONE4 for 2009.

On a personal level my flying has dropped in recent times though it's more to do with my finances being allocated to buying/selling property and my impending cessation in the work force (retirement) rather than the world financial crisis.

I've yet to change my plans for next year. Thank goodness I don't travel for work - by the sounds of it most companies are downgrading people to whY!

Yes, unfortunately. Will still travel weekly internally for work, but leisure and business international travel will be curtailed. Had planned to go to SF for a week's work in May, but with the falling $AUD, I'm not sure I will go. Ditto with a planned trip to NY in October. Will still get to Europe in July, so am not complaining. Whilst the falling $AUD hampers my travel plans, I know that it'll benefit tourism, exporters and education services. I really should've invested in some $US in May - June, but everything's clear in hindsight...

I don't travel for work, but my personal travel has increased due to lower fares being available, and now booking more in business class because the differences between discount business class fares and discount economy fares have narrowed (certainly in Europe where I'm spending most of my time).

Ouch bad luck for you!

All our travel remains as is and policies have not been changed. the company I work for is financially strong and is taking advantage of the mistakes of others! QF is still packed I've noticed on the key business routes (as per Joyces comment that domestic is still doing quite well) so its good that people/companies aren't completely over-reacting... and/or taking advantage of the circumstances to cut employee benefits (e.g. that CEO that is making everyone fly Y everywhere...!)

yes, it's not as though there is plenty of D or even A class availability. I have given up on SYD-NRT in D! AA aren't exactly handing out A seats on the DFW-ANC route either.

Our company travel policy is still J in all flights over 3 hours. Basically means anywhere from Perth.
