Will I earn status credits?

On an AA booking/flight number, but flying Alaskan from Denver to Seattle? The calculator says yes, but I'm seriously confused by the partner earning table. I flew yesterday thinking I would get all the usual Oneworld emerald benefits, but got stung $50usd for baggage and no lounge. So now I'm concerned I won't get the points either!

Yes you will earn SCs for the AA marketed flight on AS.

Here in the US, the baggage policy that applies to your flight is that of the operating carrier, not marketing (like elsewhere).. so I'm guessing that's why you got stung.

Yes, 15SC if on AS metal with AA code share.
No if on AS metal with AS flight number.

I take it that the OP was flying AS metal where there are only 2 checked bags and no lounge access for OWE per table at the bottom of https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/eliteStatus/elite-benefits-chart.jsp

I see that Alaska isn't a OW alliance partner they just partner with some alliance members on routes. Hence why no benefits. Assuming my 2 min research on the subject is correct

AS flight sold as AA flight number - you will get QFF points and SC's due to the AA code*

You won't get any oneworld benefits on the actual flight as it's operated by a non OW carrier. Confusing yes, but that's just the way it is.

just make sure you study the "fare bucket" and Qantas rules - I have previously managed a 36,000km trip on AA and earnt ZERO points and SC.

I must admit I was very fortunate one year to get an AA YUPP fare of like $430 or somethin, for SEA-SFO(AS)-LAX(AA) booked into F on both legs (as expected) and earned under the old system I think 150 SC's. I miss those old days lol

Yeah, these booked into the F fare bucket, and were fully flexible.

Such cheap AA*AS codeshares went the way of the dodo after AA went into chapter 11 protection.

I sent an email to AA stating my disappointment at the lack of benefits from booking direct with them. They sent me back a $50usd voucher to cover the baggage cost. Pretty happy with that result.

So AS changed my flight on one leg, so I was rebooked on an AS flight number, and have since missed out on SC. Still trying to argue my case with Qantas to get the points added to my account.
