Folks,

I have been in the Qantas Club for over 20 years and recently took advantage of the AFF Corporate rate (thankyou AFF for that).

Just over a year ago my wife joined the Qantas Club as part of a special deal with her employer - and at her first years renewal in December just gone - she paid a $485 renewal fee.

My question is - is there a smarter way for us to have done this?

regards

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Becoming good "friends" with someone who is approaching 2400 SC's in their QF year is the best way I can think of. :)

Short answer is yes, partner membership which is $320 a year for Australian based members.

Indeed. My wife, who is with a very large company, is eligible for a very cheap QP rate whchi also made me eligible for a very cheap spouses rate (which we no longer worry about, as our domestic travel is now infrequent and particularly hers)

Vec, not sure I understand?

Markis, are you saying because I was already in Qantas Club, she would have been eligible at the lower fee as my partner?
Would we have to have brought their attention to it or should Qantas have picked it up?

I am assuming that by partner you are not referring to my AFF corporate rate??

Any QP member can have a partner join at the special rate so long as they share the same address.

Vec, OK, understood.

Thankyou, much appreciate your help

Markis,

I need to get something clear in my head.

I am a Qantas Club member - so my wife should have been able to renew at $320?
I am a member of the Qantas Club thru the AFF Corporate Scheme - does this affect my wife's renewal fee? ie is it still $320 for her
If yes, I intend to contact Qantas and ask for them to refund the difference between the $485 sge paid and the $320 she is apparently eligible for.

Would this not be akin to buying two movie tickets separately, then finding out a family/couple ticket was available and demanding a refund of the difference?

Just make sure you don't end up refunding the lot to switch to a partner membership, as they may make you pay the joining fee again ;) at which points the savings would be wiped out.

Samh004,

Just rang Qantas Club today,

They have agreed to credit the difference between the $485 my wife was charged and the $320 she should have been charged as a partner member.
The lass at Qantas (Jess) was most helpful.
Who said customer service was dead??
