My husband has booked a flight to US. BNE-LAX-DFW-VPS and return through Flight Centre and although his bookings are with Qantas and AA only one of the AA flights is showing frequent flyer points. Neither the Flight Centre person nor 2 different people at Q could tell him why not. One suggested that on return he send in his boarding passes and they would credit them. My question is - Does anybody think that is correct or should we keep asking? Also is status affected? Thanks for any help, this is such a great site as sometimes dealing with these people must be akin to "head bashing against walls".

Has he already travelled?

What is the fare code and cabin? For example, is your husband flying in economy on a K fare code? Not all AA flights earn miles with QF. See here.

No BAM71 he hasn't travelled yet. Not until October. He is flying Y+ to LAX with Qantas and then Y on following day to DFW and VPS with AA. Same for return.

If you look up the booking on www.qantas.com/yourbooking the fare class code is listed against each segment.

For example the fare code on QF15 BNE to LAX may be "(T)".

If you can provide that for each segment as well as the flight number (e.g. QF15) we can advise you on how to ascertain earnings.

If he hasn't traveled the points won't show until he does. The sector has to show flown on the ticket before the points can be credited. If you're talking about not being able to see the flights in 'Your Bookings' that's is probably because Flight Centre doesn't use Amadeus as their booking system like Qantas does. A couple of recent AA flights never showed up because they use Sabre. Once I had flown the flights the points were duly credited where appropriate.

Note that to do this you will need the Qantas "Booking Reference". This is likely to be different from that provided (if any) to you by Flight Centre.

To get this you firstly "arm yourself" with the passenger's flight details, name etc. Then call Qantas on 13 13 13, select international and when ask for "Qantas' Booking Reference".

They should be able to easily look it up. Note this and use as I described.

When i flew domestic AA last month, i had to scan the boarding pass and email to QFF. you can't even do it online via qantas website. Maybe they are on different system?
