hi, my worst nightmare, my QF2 flight home in F on the 29th Aug was also delayed until 4am the next day. First I get the SMS message to inform me my flight has been delayed, next I get the phone call telling me it was delayed and that I would be given a hotel room and meal etc etc etc. As I had to check out of my hotel by 2pm, I checked out and went to the airport to get my hotel etc and wait for 12+ hours only to find out that they said I could choose to wait or re-book on an Emirates flight that left at 7.50pm. At first I was unsure as never flown Emirates F before but another guy said they were good so I decided to go for the EK option. I also met another couple traveling F on QF2 and they also decided to use the EK service.
What was interesting is that when the three of us boarded the EK flight we were the only 3 in F class. That made us wonder how a flight could be devoid of F passengers.
What can I say about the service in EK, brilliant but that could be because we had 3 FA's and only 3 of us in F, and all QF2 passengers. The ICE system is awesome and IMO better than AVOD. MAssive 19" screen. The F seat with the massage feature was cool. The personal mini bar was good but woudl have been better if it had alcohol in it. The al la carte menu when you dine when you choose was awesome.
The downside was the 2-2-2 config whereas I love QF with 1-2-1 config.
Also the fully flat bed was not as comfortable as QF, but I later found out they had a separate mattress to lie down but I feel asleep. I have decided that if EK was in One World then they would compete for my money but until then it is QF all the way. Trip report to follow as it was one of my more adventure packed travels in a while.
