Are you talking about a redemption booking or just a normal cash fare?

Either way there is a glitch in the system that allows mixed class booking, but at the higher points cost. It's allowable by the T&C's but very shonky.

Worst of all QF are well aware of it and haven't indicated any desire to fix it.

Award ticket, is the seat economy but @ business pts. Sorry but never understood & looking for award fare, preferably to Dfw.

Award tickets price at the highest cabin of the trip, and QF are quite happy to give you J domestic and Y internationally but take points as J all the way.

You may find it easier to initially look for award travel entering SYD/DFW then if you find a date available refine the search entering BNE/DFW this time which should then show you BNE/SYD/DFW all in J (which is actually "U" class).

It's very difficult to get award seats from Aust to LAX, DFW or JFK in "U" class unless booked 1000 EST (0000 GMT) 353 days in advance.

What dates are you looking at over and back?

Thank you, I was hoping nov '14, looks like oct. has gone. Will start the 353 days, of course, then unable to get return at same time. No idea why I finding this all so difficult. Read all the different post with excellent information.

for what its worth, no U class SYD-DFW were released at all for Oct 14.There's 2 seats for Nov 12 2014 - these have been the only releases for all of Nov thus far,so best grab them if you like.
The release of DFW-SYD U class have been non-existent since Sep 14 school holiday time.
I managed 4 x J for SYD-DFW 9 Sep, but we are coming back in Y in Oct,as even with a couple of weeks flexibility,no J were released @ +353 days, each day.

Ironically, the banner ad showing next to this post was for the Qantas Amex Discovery Card, touting "Travel to more places"...
