why do UA fares vary so much online?

Looking at SYD/LAX 9 jan, back 23 jan online

United site $1704 on nonstops. Skyscanner virtually the same, but one other site has same flights for $1081 & seems to be at least 8 seats at that price.

That’s an enormous difference. Why ?

they don't get to keep airfares paid by credit card.

The current $1081 fares are with a big agency group, who've been around over 40 years, not like dodgys above.
