Which Sim for Italy and can you use Iphone?

Hi Everyone

Upcoming trip to Italy with 2 days in France at the end. I want to get a pre paid SIM either before I leave or once I land in Rome. Not fussed if it doesnt work in France as I can use Wifi at the hotel (whereas staying with family and on the road in Italy)
Looking to use my iphone and wondered which sim card or company to go through and who does data as well as calls.

Any info appreciated
