Wish to book OW from east coast USA to SYD in May/June. Preferably *A but OW would be okay too. What are the options?

What are the options?
The ffp you have miles/points with on the airline that has availability.
USA-Aust J awards are very popular/hard to get. Have you got miles/points for First?

In OW only QF fly non stop, but availability is the issue
AA has fewer miles needed and far less taxes/surcharges than QF
Hawaiian & Fiji are other carriers that can use AA miles
Going via Asia is more miles/points

In Star only AirNZ, UA & AC unless via Asia. But from FT Air NZ is not releasing J award seats
Going via Asia is more miles/points in most (all?) ffp's

I think the heading is confusing. I meant one way (OW) as against OneWorld.

Some programs like USDM charged same number of miles, whether one way or return. My search is just a one way ticket.
