So for example you don't have your EK or One World card with you, but want to get into the lounge, do they have computerised access to check status for all partners?

I have never had to show my QF card to enter any OW, QF partner or EK lounges. The boarding pass has always been sufficient. Some people here have reported having to show their FF card in AA lounges.

If your FF number is in the booking, and shows the required status (eg on your BP), you *should* get in, if all the other T&Cs are met.

My boarding pass has been all I've needed to enter AA lounges for years. I haven't needed to show my card to enter a lounge for ages.

i was asked for my Qf card to enter the Sydney F lounge. My boarding pass showed a) that I was travelling in F, b) that I was QF platinum. I was bemused.....

This is so weird. I wonder what kind of information they think they are getting out of the physical card. Plus as a F PAX you could have decided to credit your flight to another program and still get access. The only thing I can imagine is that QF wants to make sure that all WP and WP1 have their cards with them (instead of lending it to their friends or kids to enter Dom J lounges in SYD/MEL...).

i think it was just an inexperienced lounge angel who was confused.

I won't have my newly gained WP card in 10 days time so trust my BP suffices in F lounge MEL.

Never been asked at MEL for anything. QF BP in F or J showing WP(1) status no issue. friendly greeting. Same with EK F BP(showing "QF Platinum"). Never an issue at MEL.

The only place it's even been remotely close to an issue has been AKL QF lounge when I head there with my EK F BP. Never asked for card, they just read the "QF Platinum" and note it and wave me to the F side. Very friendly and never an issue.

If your status shows at QF.com you'll be fine. BP will reflect it and all good. :D Enjoy (hopefully not crowded!!!)

All I have ever had to show is my BP to access a lounge...

I have been told my WP card doesn't work on CX MP Diamond check in lines...

Quickly retrained my supervisor... I told them who I was!!!!!

OK I think I confused everybody.

Imagine this:

Me: "Hi I'm an XX airline gold member and I'd like to enter the lounge. I'm using a different program for this booking so that's not shown on my boarding pass"

Lounge staff: "OK then, do you have your membership card with you?"

In this situation, does anyone know which QF partner airlines they can check without the card physically present?

As an example, I tried to get into the NZ lounge in Brisbane a couple of years ago without my VA platinum card, and she said they had no computer link to Velocity so if I didn't have the physical card I couldn't come in.

I am almost certain that if you can't demonstrate other eligibilty, it will be the status in the booking that counts.

Agree. Qantas will probably (rightly in my mind) take the view that its up to the pax to demonstrate eligibility, not for them to go searching for it. They sometimes can't find their own FF members, let alone other airlines!

The OP may try to print out something demonstrating status from the other airline's web site, but this could be easily faked so unlikely to be accepted.

In the booking, or physical card or (likely) bad luck, sorry.

Or just get BP with the status program and change once in the lounge, like most people do.

QF will frown on the notion of entering on a different card to the one on the BP. There have been examples cited in recent years of refusal of such situations (eg: CBR Dom J)

Its been a good 6 years since I last flew BA out of Heathrow. But there they always wanted to see the card. I made about 60 trips in the space of 4 years when living there and every time. Was platinum at the time too.

Been a few years since flying out of Heathrow for me but 3 out of 3 times got asked for the WP card as well as the boarding pass.
