It's paywalled for me and I can't find it anywhere, so does anyone know which airline just pulled out of Adelaide the day after EK announced their return? It's not like we have that many to start with anyway!

Thought you meant South Africa at first..!

Think its Batik Air Malaysia for Sth Australia

EK (before it even resumes)?!
Or QR cutting its nose to spite its face?!

Batik Air Malaysia

the story is paywalled, but you can see the airline in the story url on the adelaidenow site

If it's any consolation Batik (Indonesia) pulled out of SYD and MEL to DPS for the NS season as well, basically a free kick of recliner J traffic to the remaining competitors VA and QF (ex-MEL 737 services).

But puny little airline suspends Adelaide flights just wouldn't cut it as a headline. ;)
"Puny." I like your choice of words. Oh you poor poor Batik look at you...

Headline says "Major international airline suspends flights from Adelaide" which is far from accurate. Batik is not a "major" airline.
all the more power to the people I guess. Batik is not necessarily a safe airline (I am being very subtle here cuz I don't want to get sued by anyone by telling the truth)

There are reports going around that Batik Air Indonesia will be pulling their remaining 2-3x weekly ADL-DPS flights from July 2024, completing the withdrawal of the Batik group from ADL.

This leaves JQ as the only airline on ADL-DPS non-stop. On a related note, VA may potentially re-instate the ADL-DPS link via PER later in the year through the pending IASC application.

I know many like "to connect" for status points but if JQ ADL-DPS was available for me its a no brainer over VA ADL-PER-DPS

Doesn't VA already offer a non-stop ADL-DPS? At least I'm able to book a return for later this month...

SA. Not South Africa, but ā€¦ā€¦. South Australia. šŸ¤£ Great thread topic

Very good question. I had a VA booking DPS-ADL for next month and they cancelled it and tried to put me on virtually full flights via SYD. No thanks I said and cancelled the whole trip.

It seems that for some reason VA have cancelled all ADL-DPS-ADL flights in May for a month or so (light loadings?).
