I think I've spent more time comparing search results between apps than the hotels themselves for our upcoming Xmas trip.

Right now I have the Booking.com, Expedia, Kayak and Orbitz apps on my iPhone. They seem to be the best of what I've tried but I want to restrict my searches to 1 or 2 sites/apps from now on.

For booking hotels in Australia and North America, which of the above do you prefer? And are there any others worth checking out?

I like the Kayak app because it lists of the prices on competing services and always seems to be a bit cheaper, but booking.com often has more room options from what I've seen.

For flight search I really like the results layout Hipmunk uses but I mostly book direct with the airline.

Cheers

In the past I've used Expedia.com (usually find better rates than the AU one), Travelzoo, Booking.com, Kayak, Vegas.com, Orbitz, venere, Hotels.com, Hotelclub and Agoda...from memory

If I'm looking in a particular area that doesn't have a Hilton (as they're my preferred stay in most main destinations), I have found booking.com to be the best in terms of special offers and discounts (more than Expedia), but sometimes Orbitz comes in well under also. Not a fan of expedia after twice flights within europe got cancelled and they were pathetic in terms of service in providing alternatives (the day before), so I avoid them if I can (and with a $5000 spend in their rewards program..to get $40 rebate of which I can't use till it hits $60 i think is poor)

Flights I use Kayak and Skyscanner and then go to the direct airline sites and compare.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I dont use any of the above when "on the road" but I do use my Priority club one for any bookings I need to make from my mobile. just a tad slow (like the pc one) but easy to navigate. Tried the accor one but was hopeless. Both were Android, havent tried iPad but will do on Monday when my new iPad mini arrives from the apple people.

hotels.com for me...you get a free night for every 10 nights booked, i've redeemed 3 so far...the free night value is calculated on the average of the 10 nights
