Dear all,

This is my first post to this forum, have spent many hours reading other's comments.

Before making changes come 1 April I was keen to seek advice from members with more know-how than me.

At present I have about 800,000 amex points and 500,000 QF points as well as Gold status and QC life membership. Most of our family spending is currently on Amex.

I make a couple of international business class trips each year and a few domestic trips all which I pay for.

Currently I use my QF points for domestic family holidays, and family trips to Hong Kong and Hawaii. Our most frequent international family holiday is to Italy which we do every 2 years or so. I have never been able to do this on points.

i have always had a sentimental attachment to QF but costs and difficulty accessing seats are testing this.

What advice would you give me relating to credit card programs and airline programs, I'm considering changing everything around!

Cheers

Your situation seems to suggest keeping your powder dry.

I would also suggest that this year, while fares will be usually cheaper than they have been in years, it will be much easier to use up your points than it has been in the past.

I think I've read on here that people have been able to book over the phone with SIA (missing out on the 15% online discount) and then transfer the Amex points over after the booking has been confirmed.

To me it seems logical that since you already have a lot of points in your QF account hat you keep the Amex points and naybe use them with other airlines for travel as well.
