Hi all, looking for a great restaurant to wine and dine someone tonight in Brisbane CBD.

Aria yay or ney?

Doesn't necessarily need to be fine dining, just great food! Probably after modern Australian or Italian. Definitely no Chinese...

Thoughts?

If you are staying in the CBD then you can walk to Eagle St. Pier for dinner, there are a few good restaurants there:
Aria is a safe bet, ticks all the boxes.
Cha Cha Char for the best steak and an impressive wine list.
Il Centro is a good Italian restaurant.

Public is great. Stokehouse is great for a drink, but i have never eaten there . Looks good though.

Thanks all - any thoughts on Public?

Excellent tapas and wine list but it can get expensive quickly. I haven't had any of the big plates. The crowd is mostly from the law fraternity. Make sure you book. (Thankfully I wasn't picking up the bill)

I think Urban Spoon is on the money, depending on the occasion a wonder down to West End can see a lovely time had with some share platters etc.

Sake would be my pick of the "slightly more expensive but not fine dining" places. But Japanese isn't for everyone.

Great food and service. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for (if you like Japanese food).

Was staying at the Hilton so ended up walking down to Eagle St Pier and decided on Il Centro. Was very underwhelmed. Slow service and food was average. Entree was good, mains left a lot to be desired.

The restaurant at Hilton is also very nice.

Second the Ecco and Stokehouse suggestions.

I'd also add my new fave Esquire, and also Euro (surprisingly better than its upmarket big brother Urbane upstairs).

If you don't mind heading out to New Farm, Bistro Arlette is great for some simple but delicious French food.

Had lunch at Restaurant II today. Was excellent. Highly recommended for dinner tonight.
